MARNI: who needs ruby slippers when you have these emerald beauties? 

Made from resin with gold plating, they’re truly iconic. I bought these earrings to style with a midi dress for wedding celebrations in Tuscany this summer. Even though they’re expensive, I’ll be wearing them through winter to brighten up my fail-safe uniform of grey cashmere jumpers and jeans. Top tip: invest in jewellery you love, they’re timeless heirlooms for your little ones.

This is one of those extraordinary moments when you trawl through the depths of the Internet and unearth a real ruby (metaphorically speaking). If you’re a fan of Russian designer Vilshenko then you are bound to fall head over heels for this folksy midi dress with embroideries none too dissimilar to her pieces. Made in cotton and with a price-point a mere tenth of the Vilshenko range, you can indulge in folktale fantasies until spring.

These Prada-esq sandals caught my eye in the ever faithfully-fashionable Zara. The modern curve of the rubber heel combined with a blue brocade shuttle-woven fabric belies its £49 price-point. Pair with midi dresses for winter escapades or sultry black dresses for Christmas parties.
