the subdivide is a 21+ multifandom roleplay set on discord.com. inspired by media such as sony’s spiderverse, marvel’s loki television series, inception, the umbrella academy, and so forth, the subdivide is a roleplay centric around canon divergences and just what happens to a story, should a character not follow their given path.

what would happen if the avengers never assembled? if katniss shot down peeta opposed to sharing the berries during the 74th hunger games? who would izuku midoriya be, had he not been taken in by all might as his next protege? what would happen if denji hadn’t met makima? what if suguru geto and satoru gojo’s roles had been reversed?

this roleplay stands to allow members to play with the “what ifs” of it all – thus, throwing their characters down a path that they weren’t supposed to follow and forcing them to end up here, in the abyss known as the subdivide.

hello! clarifying question; i'm obsessed with this plot. for the divergencies within a same fandom, are we to treat them as if all muses are from the same divergent timeline? with one of the examples you gave, would all thg muses know/experience katniss killing peeta? would peeta them become npc/unplayable? or would they be from separate divergent timelines? thank you!

wahhh, thank you ! also that's such a good question ! i am gonna say that like ... it depends on if the characters come from that divergent timeline. ( this explanation might get kinda convoluted so bare w/ me bc the server is basically just : different timelines, and the fuckery that comes with it loooool. )

the only hunger games muses that would know / experience katniss killing peeta would be those from that particular divergence in the timeline. with that, peeta himself wouldn't be npcified / unplayable -- it just means that peeta is dead in one timeline to another character, even if he's not dead in his own divergence. (or, maybe this is his divergence like it's totally up to his writer.) for a divergence like that, it would probably ripple into ... peeta being dead. of course. katniss not being the mockingjay and the 75th hunger games going differently. this impacts other characters. if haymitch was pulled from this timeline, and his divergence is something like "found himself as the mentor alongside katniss for the 75th hunger games, watching the cycle continue." he def will know something happened.

however, if a writer wrote haymitch and made his divergence that he wasn't reaped, he probably would live a vastly different life to canon haymitch, or even haymitch in the 'peeta died' timeline. he might not even know who the hell peeta is when peeta comes up frantically to him like "omg haymitch bff i'm like, alive!!"

it more or less just depends on the timeline your characters are coming from. and whether or not your characters are from the same timeline or a separate one is something you can plot with your canonmates ! it is quite fun when memories and experiences do and don't align.

and, with this, i will be posting the invite to our server just a pinch early ( at 7:30ish tonight, so in about one hour ) for those who maybe won't be around at exactly 12pm est tomorrow. the server is set up in a way where you'll be asked a quick question to verify your age, & will give you an option to reserve if you don't have a tumblr account, and will have you "in" the server, but pending until i manually accept you in. ( aka ... you'll be in the second the clock strikes 12 tomorrow! )

ADMIN NOTE ! i've received a few anons giving feedback regarding the diversity rule -- opposed to replying to them all individually, i'm going to just handle this here.

taking all of the feedback into account, for now i will be adjusting it so it's encouraged, vs. as a statistical rule of (for each white muse, you must bring in a muse of color) as i do agree in that : i do not want the statistical part to make diversity seem clinical, or like a "quota" to be filled on someone's roster. it is something i encourage wholeheartedly -- it is not something that needs to be treated like corporate disney would for inclusivity points.

i thank you all for your feedback -- diversity rules can be finnicky and honestly inclusion and representation as rules in rp is never perfect. and, if i need to adjust it again later, i will <3

odd and weird question but not actively attempting to be insensitive:

whats up with the diversity guidelines? ive never seen it in a server before and im just confused as to the reasoning. like is it just an issue with media overall or is it more like an mfrp specific issue to you? sorry if this is too personal of a question but im not opposed just. hming it.

if you're talking about the diversity rules being present in general : the rpc, on tumblr at least with those who use faceclaims in multifandom rps, often have diversity rules present to ensure diversity amongst the cast as the community on tumblr hasn't always been the best regarding diversity. this is something i was looking to implement given our server using irl faceclaims, as from what i've seen its the standard for servers that use faceclaims.

if you mean, are the diversity rules present because of an issue i have or something : no! i put them here as i know its a standard rule that rps using irl faceclaims have again.

and if you mean, the rules specifically that are like "regarding this type of hc" — that's more to cover the questions i have seen asked in the past! i was trying to cover the general basis of what i thought people would want to know but i might've made it look funky or went information overload by accident — the bulk of it is genuinely just, if your first muse is white please make sure your next muse is a poc.

(and, please, if something about the diversity rules sounds weird do lmk!! it's been a while since i've adminned & i 1.) don't use faceclaims and 2.) don't usually implement diversity rules into my illustrated rps bc tbh most muses in there are often not white in their canon so it's never been a problem i have had, so if something seems funky, it's definitely not my intention! i just don't know how to word anything at all. i encourage feedback on things i've laid out.)

thank you to everyone who participated in my little polls -- i'm super happy to unveil our winner, aka the canon divergence plot ! so . . . greetings, & welcome to the subdivide ! our masterdoc is basically complete ( aside from lore, which i'll work on finishing tomorrow ) and our server is complete...ish as well.

this is the last time i'll be spamming the tags, i promise; all future updates will be made to the blog directly with no tags before i pop over to running this bad boy entirely on discord. but, if you're curious or interested : reservations will open tomorrow at 6pm est, and the server invite will drop at 12pm est on saturday !

you are so sweet nonnie, you made me stop nervously shaking in my custom baby seal leather boots some ! also um ... shut up, that's such a fun idea i want to steal it and pretend that it was mine all along ! jk jk. but it is a good idea and something i'd consider if some of the poll was like, super duper close & i had inspo to combine ideas y'know !

it def won't work for every idea — the supernatural esque school ( monster university, as i have dubbed it in my mind ) is def doomed to be solo — but i can see maybe mixing the battle royale and divergence one or using the wild west as a setting for something.
