It was a well-known fact that Sirius Black and James Potter told each other everything. Every thought, every feeling, every mundane happening–they shared it all with each other.
Which is why, when Sirius and Remus finally (finally!) got together, Sirius had hardly finished kissing the other boy before he told his best friend.
He might’ve thought that one through a bit…he knew James enough to know he’d be ridiculously supportive, but also merciless with his teasing.
“Thank you for the breakfast, Mrs. Potter, it was delicious,” Remus said as the four of them sat at the table in the Potter house, inhaling the meal Euphemia had made like they were being timed.
“Effie,” she warmly corrected Remus for the thousandth time, looking at the boy with a smile. “You all sprout up a foot every year, I swear to Merlin. I can’t believe you’re not eating more!”
Sirius, of course, opened his mouth to answer, to thank Effie himself, but James stepped in, a shit-eating grin on his face. “S’true. Sirius will eat Remus’s sausage for him, won’t you, Pads? You eat his sausage all the time at school, now.”
Peter, who had been quiet up until this point, choked loudly on his own food, ducking under the table to get control of himself.
Sirius felt himself bite back a shocked grin as Remus turned a brilliant shade of maroon. That fucking arse. “You seem to pay a lot of attention to what goes in my mouth, Prongs,” he shot back, not backing down under the embarrassment.
James, still smirking, shrugged. “You’re not quiet about it. Right, Wormy?”
Peter, who was still gasping for air, muttered through watery eyes, “I’ve nothing to say. This is an excellent breakfast, Effie.”
Sirius chuckled and raised an eyebrow at James. “Oi, Prongs? I actually heard that you have an affinity for sausage as well. Is that true?”
And now James looked truly like a deer in headlights, his eyes flashing between his mother and Sirius, words coming out in small stammers. “I–I–I don’t–”
Thankfully, Effie finally spoke up jovially. “Well, I’ll have to cook some more, then! It seems everyone here loves sausage!”
All of the boys were now bright-red, swallowing their laughter and half a second away from breaking down into fits of hysterics.
Then, Peter murmured softly, his eyes shining, “I don’t.”
It was Remus, surprisingly, who broke first, his laughter loud enough to echo through the kitchen.
