Honestly, I don’t exactly have a posting schedule at the moment 😭 I was hoping to get back into posting weekly again after my exams, but I’ve been in the worst slump ever. I always feel guilty when updates take longer than I’d like because I genuinely love sharing this story with you all, but I’d rather post a chapter I’m happy with than rush one that’ll be quite bad.

But thank you for being excited for the next chapter though 🥹 It really does motivate me, and I promise I’m still working on it, even if it’s taking me a little longer than usual. Hopefully I’ll be back with it soon 💋

ive always been curious on your ways of writing because not only is it absolutely beautiful but it is very long and filling. how long does a chapter usually take you? and what writing platform do you use?

Honestly, I don’t think you were asking for a full breakdown of my writing process, but you’re getting one anyway 😭😭

My way and process of writing is actually a lot less interesting than anyone tends to think it is. But before I start my chapter, I usually write out everything I’ve planned to happen, almost like a huge and very rough roadmap. Then for like each scene I’ll jot down little notes about how I want it to feel, sound, look, smell, sometimes even what I imagine it would taste like if that makes sense. It’s basically just a giant messy template that helps me get into the atmosphere before I actually start writing.

Once I begin properly writing, I try not to stop and edit. No matter how bad I think a sentence is, I just keep going. Otherwise I’d never get anything done. A lot of my ideas also tend to come to me in the middle of the night (which is when I tend to write everything) which is also probably a habit I should break at some point, but unfortunately that’s when my brain seems most willing to cooperate. The chapter usually changes quite a lot from that original outline. I’ll add scenes, cut scenes, move things around, or end up following a completely different train of thought than I’d planned.

Writing itself normally takes me around three days. Editing is what takes forever (because who the hell really likes to edit) I also write a lot more than what actually ends up being posted, so quite a bit gets cut before it ever makes it onto AO3.

As for what I write on…this answer is incredibly boring, but just Microsoft Word 😭 I write everything there and then copy it over to AO3 when I’m finished.

So overall, not exactly a life-changing process, but thank you so much for the compliment. It genuinely means a lot that you enjoy the writing enough to be curious about how I do it 💖

P.S. you can’t forget the music. Music is my life support.

I’ve basically vanished for two months because exams completely consumed my life, but I’m finally finished now. I’m slowly getting back into writing and Chapter 44 is officially underway. I’d give you a snippet but I think the better option would be the full chapter which will be out soon because I have finally been freed from the shackles of exams as today was my last one!!

Thank you for being patient with me, genuinely. I haven’t abandoned the fic, I just had exams trying to kill me. 🖤🖤

i usually do have the main gist of the story planned out in advance like I know where it’s going overall and roughly how it’s going to get there. Like I have the gist of my fic kind of mapped out until around mid 6th year. it’s just that turning those ideas and scenes into actual written chapters takes a lot more time than the planning does, so it ends up feeling a bit slower in practice than it looks in my head.

as for updates, I still have exams going on right now so I’m going to have to take a proper break from writing for a bit while I get through them. Though I really wish I could keep posting in the meantime, I just don’t have the time at the moment 😭

Hi!! I’m so sorry for the emotional damage that line has caused 😭 No main character death spoilers but when I said tragedy I meant emotional tragedy. Really bad decisions, consequences leading to dark and intense topics, heartbreak, that kind of thing. Very “hurt but make it cinematic,” not necessarily “everyone dies.” So yes, risk your life emotionally, not literally 🖤
