SimplyPlural & It’s Discontinuation (& What To Do)

A Brief Summary on the Discontinuation so some of you may have already heard that SimplyPlural is getting discontinued, meaning the creator is simply going to stop working on it for their own sake to focus on life things (absolutely valid), you can read more about it on Apparylis’ post here

i would like to put out there the servers are not instantly getting shut, in fact the shutdown is not until June 1st 2026. Until then, SP is still usable... the bad part is, once SimplyPlural shuts down, all avatars and data get wiped, and paying for SimplyPlural+ will not keep any servers up.

That was a misunderstanding I had when I first read into the article, rereading it and looking into it made me realize that the subscription plan they have have nothing to do with the shutdown nor will save it.

That's my fault for making this post declaring it did when it hadn't, but I have fixed it and I please ask everybody to spread word about it.

HUGE UPDATE: OCTOCON IS ALSO GETTING SHUT DOWN IN TWO WEEKS.

(+ one of the devs are completely anti-endo, has security issues, etc. the thing about "have the right to delete mass accounts" were for DDOS attack, not poly-mind systems, and etc. etc but that doesn't matter anymore because it's now getting sunsetted just like SP)

Ok, so what are the alternatives besides SP & Octocon? well i did some digging, and it might sound disappointing but this is what i found:

IOS and Android:

TwiNote

a fake Twitter app where you make “tweets” that are just basically making notes and upon reading reviews a lot of systems/plurals actually use it and from what i gathered multiple accounts can be made on it. not exactly a front-tracking thing like SP was, but can probably be used for logging it. albeit the app wasn’t specifically designed in mind for systems, it can definitely be used as one

yeah i know this sounds kind of odd to put here, but honestly if your storage allows it, internal chatting and logging who fronts who stopped fronting, basically like a personal journal

Android Only:

Ampersand is also a newer one that has front logs and supports markdown like simplyplural! however it is an offline app so your friends cannot access information and it does not offer the permanent notification like simplyplural.

Update: Ampersand just declared that they're going on Hiatus, you can read more about that here.

Stoat (also on any computer*)

if people are specifically avoiding discord because of the age verification that’s rolling like 5 months away, there is also Stoat which has Revoltkit. Stoat is basically 2015 discord Cons: - you have to restart it just to see your profile or status update - has VERY few public servers. only one Discoverable server for plural community. - its boring to use if none of your friends use Stoat often. - Stoat is generally very buggy but they plan to fix that - not sure about Revolt's front-tracking system.

All Device Friendly:

Discord [Pluralkit, Tupperbox, and /plu/ral]. despite the age verification releases in the second half of the year (more about that here), there is a bot called Pluralkit you can use and actually use set whoever’s fronting and what not, along with Pluralkit having their own website however on that website you can’t set who’s fronting, you do that via discord. it’s also a great chatting app for anybody to use, and each alter can use “bots” to speak to others, which is really neat. you can put on your status who’s fronting and be able to talk to people. Tupperbox and /plu/ral are other bots alternatives to Pluralkit, but Tupperbox does not have features relating to fronting at all. Computer and Browser Only:

Fluxer [PluralFlux]

we just downloaded Fluxer on our Windows and it's actually way smoother then Stoat. It's a lot more like current Discord honestly, and their subscriptions for Plutonium (ripoff Nitro) is only just $5 a month or $50 a year? and it basically does everything and doesn't have the in-between plan?? that sounds pretty neat actually! only note is that it keeps glitching but everthing runs smoothly. obviously more underrated then discord so unlike Stoat, Fluxer doesn't have a discoverable server for anything Plural related. like at all.

there is a bot you can use called PluralFlux which works basically just like PluralKit. only issue is, and i quote:

If it's not running at the moment, it's because my computer crashed or something. I'm looking to move running it to a somewhat more permanent solution.

and right now it's down and i don't know how long it's going to be down but i really do hope they find that solution because this could be the backup plan for everyone migrating from Discord!

It's basically just an ephemeral offline version of PluralKit for chatting within the system. Chats are deleted if you reload the page but you can get alt text of them. It's pretty simplistic with minimal features but that's what we like about it. You can import information from Pluralkit or Tupperbox, and you can export information in a json format (what Pluralkit uses).

the offline alternative to google docs.

obsidian has a learning curve but it also has unique organization methods that might work better for some

Much like Obsidian there is a learning curve, but AnyType does offer tutorial videos and has a community forum! Tons of freedom with organization and setting things up the way you want to.

This also includes decorating! Has options for chats, storing links as bookmarks, task lists, creating templates, etc.

Available on Mac, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS with cross-platform syncing. Works online AND offline. All data is locally-stored on your device, free accounts receive the same data encryption by default

I did a social experiment where I joined a bunch of pro-contact radqueer/paraphilia servers and I'm NEVER doing that again. I have never met people more depraved in my life EVER. I went into this experiment thinking I could learn the psychological reasonings and effects but NO. You people are genuinely the worst most cruelest people I've ever met with no regard for life even when you act like you do. The things I saw and read during this experiment I cannot even type out without getting my account possibly taken down. From a surface level you probably all may seem like nice and sweet people but you are horrible people that deserve to be locked up regardless if you're a minor or not. I never realized how truly shitty the law is at protection until I did this experiment. This stuff happens not only through discord but websites and anything people can get ahold of.

Please protect your kids, your pets, your friends/family, and even the dead.

In light of recent events (announcement of SP discontinuation) we have been scrambling for solutions. We are a system of 1000+ so neither Octocon or Ampersand can handle our system purely on headcount alone, and other projects like Concordia do not seem serious and are only in very infancy and we cannot gamble on them working before SP shuts down entirely. We also happen to have a lovely girlfriend, who is also a system. She is a much smaller system than us and does not suffer nearly as much from the news as we do, but she saw our struggle and had desire to help us. She is a software engineer by trade and she made an alternative app for us. But we are not the only system who struggles, the whole community is in this struggle together. This is why both of us decided to share this app and to give back to the community: Ourcana is a offline-first website and app (currently cannot download from appstores but APKs exist). It being offline means that Ourcana does not actually have a server to store the data on. When an user imports information, they import information into the browser cache instead of server and can edit information from there, which makes Ourcana completely local.

There are several options when it comes to making a system on Ourcana: Making a system from scratch, using PK token, using PK export, using SP token (before the shutdown), using SP export. Keep in mind that while using SP token the switch and pfp information might not display, and it's determined to be an issue with Simply Plural itself. Using SP export should at least fix switch logs. An user can also use both PK and SP tokens at the same time (with special settings on where PK should take priority). An user can also create the app-specific export as a backup and also can clear all data from browser cache, making them to provide tokens/exports on reload again. Current functionality: Switches - An user can set (override previous switch) or add a fronter by long press. Switches have two categories: lone front and co-fronts (2+ alters). These switches can be backdated and have a visualiser that somewhat resembles the way how SP did it (FLOW tab). The switches can be given a custom status.

Tags (TAGS tab) - Something between PK groups and SP groups. If importing from Simply Plural, the groups will import as tags. On both PK and SP import, tags for every member will also be created. Tags can be created on their own, (mass-)deleted and nested.

Editing alter information: Currently there is functionality to create a new profile (+ NEW), but not to delete an existing one. Information that can be edited:

Markdown capabilities are matched with Simply Plural, which means that you can embed images and tables into descriptions, but you cannot use discord's "-#" markdown.

In-built documentation capabilities: Journaling is supported and can be accessed through LORE tab. One can use this feature to document important information, some alter behaviours or personal memories or as a way to document headspace landmarks.

One can also sync front and description edits to pluralkit LIVE if using PK token after enabling a setting (gear icon)

Hi everyone. I’m taking a brief moment away from working on the project to address something important.

Recently, I have received a number of hostile messages, including actual death threats, regarding the lack of visible 'app progress' (Concordia is a foundation project before it is an app), as well as messages sent when we are not able to respond to developers or teams immediately. These messages have been weighing on me heavily to the point where I often avoid logging into these accounts unless I am actively working on the project, and it has begun pushing back my motivation and desire to work on something I genuinely care about.

I need to be very clear that this kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable.

I also want to be transparent about something: I never expected Concordia to grow or gain attention as quickly as it did. The response has been much larger than anticipated, and we are currently working through a very large number of asks, messages, and emails.

So far we have received over 500 messages from developers, teams, and community members who want to get involved. We genuinely appreciate the interest and support. However, it takes time to work through this volume of communication. We have already begun reaching out to some people and are currently prioritising emails while we organise communication channels.

Concordia was never intended to be an immediate replacement for existing tools. There are other applications and projects currently in development that may serve as more immediate solutions, and I will soon be making a post highlighting as many of these projects as possible — amplifying community tools is another goal of the Concordia Project.

From the beginning, the goal of Concordia has been to carefully plan and build a strong, sustainable foundation before beginning full development. The intention is to create tools that can exist long-term, supported by stable teams and reliable infrastructure, rather than rushing something into release that may fall apart later and leave many plural systems without support.

I understand that many people are feeling anxious and upset about the situation with Simply Plural, and now with Octocon going down as well. That concern is completely valid, and one our system is struggling with as well. However, I am not affiliated with these projects and do not have any influence or control over what is happening with them. Anger or frustration about these situations should not be directed at myself or anyone on the Concordia team. In fact, this type of pressure and hostility is often part of what leads developers to step back from projects in the first place.

I have also seen a number of other development teams in the community recently facing the same kind of harassment and pressure. It is honestly horrible to witness, and it is a major reason why many people eventually leave projects like these entirely. When people who are volunteering their time and energy are met with hostility instead of patience, it makes long-term community tools much harder to sustain.

It is also important to understand the circumstances under which this project is being run. Concordia is currently being developed by a very small team. I am also a physically disabled, highly dissociative polyfragmented system living with ME/CFS, and I am currently navigating the possibility of homelessness while also caring for my family. This project is something I care deeply about, but it exists alongside very real life responsibilities and health limitations.

When the project was first announced, many members of the community encouraged us to take our time and avoid burnout. That is exactly what we are trying to do so that this project can remain sustainable.

Constructive feedback and community interest are always welcome, but harassment and threats toward the people working on this project are deeply harmful and will not be tolerated.

If you support Concordia, or any projects alike this, please understand that meaningful and sustainable development takes time. Our goal is to build something thoughtfully and responsibly so that, when it does exist, it can truly last. Please meet teams behind any of this applications with compassion and understanding for what goes into these projects.

Welcome to The Concordia Project

The Concordia Project is a community-driven effort to create better tools for plural systems.

Plural systems often rely on apps such as Simply Plural or PluralKit to communicate, track switches, organize members, and manage daily life. These tools are incredibly valuable to us — but right now, there are very few of them, and most are maintained by very small, overworked teams.

Concordia is being developed to change that.

What is Concordia?

Concordia is being developed as a foundation-style project whose goal is to support the development of plural tools — including apps, websites, and other resources.

Instead of being just one app, the long-term goal is to build a sustainable ecosystem where multiple tools can exist, improve, and continue to be maintained over time, as well as being easily accessible to all plural.

What this means in practice

One way to understand this idea is to look at projects like Mozilla.

Mozilla develops Firefox, but it also acts as a foundation that supports technology that benefits the wider internet. It provides structure and support that helps important tools continue to exist and grow.

Another example is the Blender Foundation. The Blender Foundation maintains the 3D software Blender while also supporting the long-term development of the project and coordinating the community around it.

Similarly, Concordia’s goal is not only to develop a plural app — but to create a structure that can support ongoing development of plural technology as a whole.

This includes things like:

• developing new tools

• supporting developers who want to build plural resources

• helping projects stay maintained long-term

• amplifying existing tools so more systems know they exist

• connecting developers and creators to each other for support and collaboration

One of the first projects under The Concordia Project will be a new plural app and website, Concordia.

This app will be a system management tool, similar to tools like Simply Plural. It will allow systems to organize and keep track of information about their system in one place.

This will include things like member profiles, switch tracking, friending systems, system notes, a calendar and other ways to organize system information.

A major goal is to make sure that existing data from tools like Simply Plural and PluralKit can be uploaded, so systems don’t have to start from scratch if they choose to move between platforms.

Under The Concordia Project, this app will be continuously maintained and cared for, with the goal of providing a stable tool that systems can rely on long-term.

Why this project exists

Plural tools are extremely important for many systems, and something we rely on heavily in our day-to-day lives — but there are very few of them, and many rely on small teams working under a lot of pressure. Because of this, projects can sometimes slow down, struggle to be maintained, or even collapse entirely, leaving the systems who rely on them without stable tools.

The Concordia Project hopes to help create a future where plural tools are:

• easier to maintain

• easier to develop

• easier for systems to access

• and not dependent on just one or two projects existing

Another goal of the Concordia Project is to create tools that are free from system discourse ('syscourse'). Rather than participating in debates about who should or shouldn’t use plural tools, Concordia’s focus is simply on building and maintaining reliable resources that plural systems can use regardless of where they fall within community discussions or labels.

This is still an early-stage project.

Right now we are focusing on:

• researching community needs

• building a development roadmap

• connecting with debelopers and creatives

• and laying the groundwork for the project

Hello all im here hopfully the last time for this type of thing but here we go...

I'm getting desperate- I'm getting worse and in extreme of need a wheelchair- the wheelchair i used currently does not belong to me and is too heavy for me to go out by myself with. Me and my partner have found one that will work very well for me but we are about $200 dollars short. It is a used wheelchair from a local mobility shop. The shop has agreed to hold it for us but only for a week. If anyone could please help us out i would be eternally greatful

Urging EVERYONE still in chococritters to leave ASAP.

The people there, including staff, are ableist anti-endos who have and will and do go out of their way to prevent endogenic plurals, or supporters of endogenic plurality, from simply existing in their space, and they will harass you for being there.

One of their staff managed to join our emote server before ome of our mods banned them, but within that timeframe they had already banned us for being "pro endo and owning a pro endo server" and accused us of tracing our emojis, along with almost certainly being the instigators of the further harassment and fakeclaiming targeted at here us on Tumblr.

They joined our server specifically to target endogenic systems and ban them from their community, which is in violation of our own DNI and rules. We were in their server as well, however- we were there only to keep an eye on new members in REaC and in AE, our server and partner server respectively, specifically to avoid a situation like this; we stayed unverified throughout and never interacted with anything nor anyone there.

A ban for being pro-endo would be understandable despite this, but they joined our space and banned members of our small community for being in our community, when we never took any action against them or their community. This means they are targeting any potential endogenic supporters and communities simply for existing- in short, they are violating community rules and guidelines specifically to join and cause harm to endogenic spaces, this is TARGETED harassment.

On top of that, the community there is incredibly toxic and discriminatory towards anyone they deem "wrong." Being around these people and places and staying around them will only lead to you being either targeted by them, or made to target other innocent people yourself. Please leave that horrible place and those like it, even existing there only further spreads hate.

Bots like Remoji and Emoji.GG can be used to take emojis for private servers on discord if you really still want to use them, but we as a system, our team, and community ask and urge you all to leave chococritters as soon as possible for your own safety and the safety of others simply trying to exist.

Any staff and supporters of chococritters will be blocked and, if you come at us in any way, reported for harassment. Fuck off and good riddance.

If we lose followers or support over this, you should not have been on our blog in the first place.
