You know a book was great when a mid ending to the story causes you to tweak every time you think about it even months after finishing it

The worst part about having a character in your story with a somewhat similar name to yours is that eventually a nickname used for them may also become a nickname used for you irl.

Now every time this one specific character refers to them by that one specific nickname I can't help imagining them turning around towards the camera to stare at me like this:

You know you wrote a good lesbian character if the reaction from your lesbian friends is that half of them claim she is literally them and the other half is so damn comically down bad for her like she is the only remaining piece of plaid clothing in the universe

Little did she know, my dad's not a phone.

Opened the google docs file to edit in one sentenced, two hours later closed the doc with 1k+ words worth of new content added.

once you recognise the ubiquitous and inevitable fandom life cycle it becomes much easier to free yourself from it and just keep enjoying things in a more healthy way while still thinking critically about them

this is meant positively by the way. sometimes you love the character so much you end up putting a piece of yourself in it to learn how it is to love yourself without realising and thats ok.

I have never once, in all my years, thought that someone could be so dense so as to think a book in first person POV is meant to be the reader’s pov.

Like bitch that’s what second person POV is. There’s a reason why it’s so rare

Actually, my therapist has told me this is a healthy way of processing things. Because you can get the trauma out of your head And you can write the ending you wish it had. The trusted person rescue, the catharsis of getting to kill the one who hurt you.

It's good for your brain. It's healthier than bottling it up. Fiction is where we go for emotional release. That can be true with trauma too.
