Announcement: Hiatus, revamp, more.
Hello everyone! Sy here with a big, long-overdue announcement.
Over the last half year or so, Ripley and I have discussed The Things We Do extensively. We've come to the conclusion that, as it is now, the story isn't up to par with what we expect of ourselves. While it started as a simple "roleplay-turned-story" that we were sharing for fun, it's grown into something more than that for us. Both of us want to expand the story and its medium into something we're proud and excited to have people read.
For that reason, TTWD is being revamped; and to do that, we're taking the time to build it into something greater than it is now. The story is being discontinued in its current state-- that means no more updates. Rather, we're going to revisit and rewrite the story in its entirety.
We're going to dedicate ourselves more wholly to TTWD, and make it something that'll hopefully be on par with a webcomic in terms of professionalism. That means fuller content (longer arcs, longer chapters), more illustrations (full ref sheets, scenes in the story), and a consistent update schedule. We'll also be hosting on our own site, and creating an open environment for optimal fan interactions, including a Discord server and a Patreon!
Of course, there's a catch. This is going to take time. We want to deliver on what we're promising, and so we're going to be working on completing TTWD before we begin anything. With the length we have in mind, this will take a while. We won't promise to be done by a certain date or within a certain amount of time, because this is something we're going to be working on in our free time, and it's a LOT of content to be creating.
We appreciate every single one of you who has encouraged, supported, and interacted with us. You made us feel like this story was worth something, and now we're going to make sure it lives up to that love.
*Because of how long this will likely take us, we don't want newcomers to find our content, get excited, and then realize it's on indefinite hiatus until the revamp. For this reason, we're actually going to be taking down all of the arcs from ao3, and all of the content here on the blog. Don't worry, it won't be gone forever! When we officially reboot TTWD on its own website and launch our Patreon, all of the content of this blog will be made available at the lowest tier. That way, those of you who've been with us since the start and enjoyed the original content, and those newcomers who want to see what TTWD was built up from, can see all of the "old" stuff!
We're fans of stuff here on Tumblr too, and when that content vanishes without warning, it's depressing. So we wanted to give you a heads-up, in case you wanted to save anything for yourself before it's gone.
And that's the announcement! In summary: The current TTWD is being discontinued, so that we can start from scratch and make it even better. This will include an original website, more story, more art, an actual update schedule, fan interactions, and more! This is going to take time, so we're going underground with everything TTWD until it's completely finished, and ready to be released on a reliable update schedule. Everything TTWD is going to be removed from AO3 and this blog (explanation at the *asterisk a couple paragraphs up), but it will be made available again after the relaunch!
