in all my time of writing chick on here i don't recall that i've ever touched down on my interpretation of his age. and i think that's just because it's kind of hard, because as a car that's basically a completely nebulous concept and pixar doesnt really supply any real direction for how or even if cars mature. there's children cars shown in multiple instances but then you see doc's memorial in cars 3 concept art and it shows his model year as his "birth" year even though he was canonically racing that very year. and obviously mcqueen wasnt a baby in the first movie even though 2005 is his model year. so it seems like it's kind of whatever, anything goes.

so with that all being said, i interpret chick as being in his early forties during the first film, mid fifties in the third, and he'd be in his mid sixties in current day. the middle age is already really obvious, we already know that's canon based on his purpose in the story as the older gen car vs the newer gen. human verses i've put a flexible birth year of 1961, which could still apply to him as a car too, it really just depends on how you want to look at it. again, anything goes.

i do really appreciate when a modicum of credit is given where it's due with chick because pulling in second as consistently as he was is insane when you look at the big picture of what was going on there. a roster of 40~ competitors for multiple decades and he's right there in the top three for almost that entire span of time. what would normally be considered one of the most successful careers a driver could possibly have suddenly turns into what's basically mass impostor syndrome at one specific guy just because he was caught behind two of the absolute fan favorites.

are you kidding me. you can find me anywhere BUT the effin tower. they dont even have gold bars there, bratt. there's NO gold at the bottom of the effin tower. no chance of catching the one and only chick hicks at the effin tower hauling off a bunch of heavy bags into his car in a million years. and he also wouldnt be short a bag or two and it wouldnt be cool if you brought some extras.

i know amongst the rpc that relationship pages are pretty much an entirely antiquated thing and were largely absorbed into the concept of affiliates yeaarrrssss ago, on top of being a relic of when customized blog themes with really decked out pages were a lot more prominent. but i nonetheless miss them dearly and feel like they really encouraged and nurtured deep and thorough interaction between muses. so i have made one.

Chick is not oblivious to eggs; he's had at least dozen chocolate ones today. He found them easily because they were in a plastic carton and set out on the counter by someone else, and they were his because he found them. That's how this egg-hunting thing works. But he's already been satisfied by that dozen and isn't particularly thinking about them in this moment, when he sits down, hears a crack, and assumes it's a joint. Today all is well in Chick Hicks Studios for the host whilst everyone else is feeling that the name is a little on the nose.

chick only has a couple minutes of screentime in the first movie and pretty much everything about him can be summed up there. and it's not that i'm saying that to suggest he lacks depth or that he was written poorly, but just that the fact that he can be described in such a short span of time alone is revealing to how his obsession has ate away at him enough to the point that all it leaves IS the obsession. the guy who wants to win.

and i like how much that leaves room for suggestion. you obviously know that this is not how things started, not how things used to be, and that there had to be some progression to get to this point. he has depth because he doesn't have any depth. he's a one-page character but that's because all the rest of the pages have been deliberately burnt up. i like to figure out what kinds of things he left behind.
