INTP Thought

Something that I don’t think gets enough recognition is how much empathy INTPs can show. They have a reputation for being ‘emotionless robots’ (and yeah ok sometimes true), but the Ti-Ne thought process can lend itself to understanding many different situations and perspectives. Are they going to be ‘feely’ about it? Probably not. Will they agree with the ultimate conclusion? Eh. But can they understand it to a decent extent and see where someone else is coming from and validate that? Probably yes. The pattern has crossed their mind. Just an observation that INTPs do not categorically lack EQ, and it is not just Fe doing the heavy lifting.

One of my teachers today: “You are here to do as you are told.” (un ironically)

For context, some people in the class did not do a simple task he had asked them to complete the previous day (I understand his annoyance) Initially, I was just really surprised because he is usually structured but not harsh; typically, he is very kind. Given, he is an SJ type, but this particular quote stood out to me. Is that really what some teachers view as the purpose of our education, even subconsciously? I understand being upset over laziness. I understand being irritated over lack of effort but anger over not being obeyed is another story. Even little things like this cause me to question and contemplate true purposes of societal institutions. Mass education is a great thing; I am not negating that. I simply wonder other possible latent (or maybe not so latent) functions of said institution as well.

INTP Thought

When are we going to stop infantilizing people well into their young adulthood? It seems as though age restrictions only continue to rise, and less and less is practically expected of younger people. I say practically because amounts of school work and the like has continued to rise, and that is a great amount of added stress compared to the past (past as in recent centuries globally, not only the past few decades in America), but young people are learning at a slower rate; people could be learning more complex things earlier and not need to repeat half of high school in the first years of university.

The more wealthy children in times past learned at quite an accelerated rate of complex issues, and of course, they still had a lot of growing to do, but it was being presented to them. We possess the social freedom and resources to bring education to the masses now. Shouldn’t sights be set to achieve that quality of the past and unlock it to more people, creating a more educated and productive populace?

People are capable of so much, even from a younger age. This includes being educated to handle tougher concepts and situations in life; young people’s experiences must not be as censored as it is growing to be. Progress cannot be efficiently achieved if the bar is continually lowered to the ground.

INTP Story

When I was in elementary school, my teacher had us play a fill in the blank common phrases trivia game to see who knew said phrases. One was “Tall, dark, and -blank-” in reference to “Tall, dark, and handsome” Being a child, I said “Tall, dark, and scary” I never thought I would still identify with my original sentiment as much as I do lol
