I would rather forget

Hey everyone, the name is Tomoya Okazaki. I have a habit of always arriving late to school and skipping classes during the day, and because of that I have been labeled as a ''delinquent''. However, I don't go around looking for fights, so don't let my status scare you. I'm very sarcastic and sometimes people think I'm picking on them when I'm just joking around, so yeah. Ryou’s eyes widened as he suggested they eat together. She hadn’t expected that he’d be okay hanging out with just her. “W-What… b-b-but!” Ryou’s face turned completely red at the idea of eating lunch alone with him, at least until the other classes got out. “I-Is that okay…? W-What about… Onee-chan…” She didn’t know what to do with this new situation as her sister was still in class. They had only eaten together when Kyou forced helped him to come along with them. 

“I-I don’t think it’s… proper… w-without Onee-chan…” Ryou nervously looked to the door and planned an escape route in the case she felt too emotionally overwhelmed. She quickly became sad again as she realized that if she hung out with him like this it would be like betraying her sister. “A-Are you sure it’s okay?”

Tomoya frowned a little when Ryou mentioned her sister. "Kyou..." He muttered while turning to look out the window once again. He never really hung out with just Ryou; Kyou was pretty much always with them whenever they had lunch together or talked outside of class.  Ryou was the only person in his class that Tomoya actually talked to (besides Sunohara); since everyone else thought he was nothing but a delinquent bum. So, it is true that hanging out with just her wasn't something he was used to  - but she was his friend so it wasn't that weird, right?

"Well... Kyou was probably going to make me eat lunch with you guys today anyway..." He let out a small sigh and set an elbow on top of his desk, resting his head against his palm. "Hey; if you don't think it's a good idea; then we don't have to eat together. I won't be offended or anything." He said in an attempt of calming her down after noticing how nervous she looked.

That response was all the idiotic delinquent needed. Immediately, his eyes lit up at the very idea of stuffing himself with katsudon, chips, soda pop, and other junk that would probably clog up his insides. “Alright, now we’re talking! Let’s see… We should stop by the convenience store and stock up on some drinks, though. I downed them all last night while catching up on my comics.”

Tomoya smiled a little at his friend's behavior and nodded his head. "Yeah, as long as you're paying..." He said as they walked along. He patted his pocket to make sure he had his wallet before turning to look at Sunohara with a raised eyebrow. "But should we really head back to your dorm? I don't feel like eating around piles of dirty laundry."

Ushio nodded eagerly, grinning up at him. "Daddy should play too!" She insisted, tugging on his shirt.

He ran a hand through his hair; pondering for a few seconds. “Daddy hasn’t played baseball in years. I wonder if I can still hit one of Akio’s pitches…” He muttered. Feeling the tug at his shirt, Tomoya reached down to ruffle Ushio’s hair. “Alright then. I’ll play with you.”

The blonde haired girl crossed her arms and listened the the guys sarcastic comment again. Her growing aggravation was partially embarrassment at this point. Since everything he said was practically proving everything Chitoge had said wrong, she didn’t like being in the rain soaking wet and she didn’t like getting sick either. “I-I Never said that I like being soaked! I just said that I didn’t need anyone else’s help!” she said in a louder voice, closer to a yelling. “And obviously I don’t like being sick! That’s pretty self explanatory! No one likes being sick!”

Noticing the motion of him rolling his eyes she held herself back from getting even more annoyed, that would only end badly. Hearing him bring up the phone again she took a deep breath. “Though there’s a possibility that its broken, that’s none of your concern anyways! Why the hell should you care!” this time she actually started yelling. She was a very short tempered person — that was obvious enough. — and she would yell often even if not necessary.  When hearing the next part referring to beansprout, all that was going to do was make her yell again. “Damnit! Thats none of your business he’s just a stupid beansprout and you remind me of him because your annoying me!

Pausing for a moment after hearing him say he didn’t want to leave her without an umbrella in the rain she took a deep breath and sighed trying to calm herself down again. “Theres no need to feel bad for me” she replied her voice getting softer. “It’s not like I haven’t been in the rain before, even if my phone was broken I can take care of myself”

Tomoya rolled his eyes when she said that she didn't like being soaked or being sick. "Oh, really? I didn't know that. Thank you for enlightening me." He could tell that she was getting tired of his sarcastic comments; but he didn't really care since she wasn't being exactly the most pleasant person. He took a step back when she started to yell and tried to stay calm - and didn't say anything. Clearly she wasn't going to listen to him; and even if he was right she'd still act like he was wrong; so he gave up on trying to convince her that her cellphone was indeed broken. However, he was a little bothered by the beansprout comment. "No, seriously, what the hell are you talking about?" 

After her features softened Tomoya took a deep breathe and tried to calm himself down. "I know, I know. But you're going to catch a cold if you stay like that." He said as if it was obvious. Despite Tomoya's sarcastic ways he had a good heart ( even if he didn't want to admit it ) so leaving her alone wasn't exactly an option; even after she said that he didn't have to feel bad for her.

He took a few steps closer to her and held his umbrella up above the her head to shield her from the rain again. "I seriously have nothing better to do so let me walk you to the closest bus stop." He said with a small shrug of his shoulders. Tomoya was actually going to his house right now but it wasn't like he was excited to go there only to find his father drunk like every other day. "Or you could just use my phone and then we can part ways. What do you think?"

“I-It’s nothing!” Ryou waved her hand through the air frantically to try and make him believe her but she wasn’t able to keep up the act for long. Her eyes moved down to look at the floor as she let out a small sigh. “Y-You shouldn’t… worry about it… it’s my own problem…” She fidgeted on the spot nervously hoping he’d be satisfied with her response.

“W-What were you… going to do for lunch? W-We got out early so…” She knew no one else would be out of classes yet so it was just them. Assumming he didn’t mind her presence. Ryou always worried that she was just a nuisance to him but he seemed to be kind to her at the very least. “N-Nobody else is out… a-and…” She looked over to the empty seat beside him while wondering where the blonde was..

He nodded, biting his lip. "If you say so..." Tomoya noticed that she didn't want to speak about it so he didn't press the subject any further. He followed her gaze while tapping his pencil on his desk. "Well, I usually eat lunch with Sunohara in the cafeteria, but since he's not here..." His voice trailed off and he turned his attention back to Ryou. Tomoya ate lunch with her and Kyou a couple of times before too; but since their class got out earlier for lunch today eating lunch with Kyou wasn't an option.

Tomoya gave a small shrug and turned to look out the classroom window. "I don't know, maybe I'll just stay here..." He muttered before looking at Ryou again. She was obviously sad about something; and even though she said that he shouldn't worry about it, he couldn't help but wonder if she was like that because of him (and that made him feel guilty). He pushed the thought away and smiled a little, leaning back in his seat. "Or we can eat lunch together - if you have nothing better to do."

“A-Ano…” Ryou nervously shook Tomoya’s shoulder as their class had gotten out early but he was still asleep. “O-Okazaki-kun… c-class is over… for now… w-we got out early for lunch…” Indeed they had half an hour to kill and Ryou couldn’t just stand by and let him sleep through it. Even though she had heard about a ‘date’ that Kyou had gone on with him, Ryou still cared for his well being.

“I-I… hope I’m not bothering you I just… thought you should know.” There was a obvious sadness in the way she spoke to him despite the fact that she was trying to hide it. Ryou was never that strong mentally so things bled through when she tried to hide them.

Tomoya silently groaned and clamped his eyes shut when he heard someone talking to him. Maybe if the intruder thought he was fast asleep then they would just leave. No such luck. He groaned a little when the person began to shake him a little. "What?" He growled, his voice full of sleep. Tomoya slowly opened his eyes and saw a familiar face. His features softened at the sight. "Oh, Fujibayashi." He yawned and stretched his arms. "Oh, I see..."

He rubbed his eyes and took a quick look around, noticing that Sunohara didn't show up to school again. He shook his head and offered her a small smile. "No, it's okay. You're not bothering me at all." He was actually glad that she woke him up. Tomoya did notice the sadness in her voice. However, he was still a little sleepy and didn't realize that she was probably like that because of him. "What's wrong?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "You seem a little down."

Ushio nodded with excitement. "Yay! Baseball with Akki!" She giggled softly at the idea. Baseball was her favorite game to play, so she was really looking forward to it.

What is the old man teaching her… He chuckled softly at Ushio’s excitement. “You really like do baseball, huh? I bet you’re really good at it.” Tomoya said with a grin. “Daddy used to play baseball with Akki, and with Mommy too. It was really fun.”

He looked at the 3rd year, it was kinda weird having someone that didn’t look like he was from the local area but knew it better than he did. “3rd Year..” he muttered to himself “Then should I call you Okazaki-senpai?” he asked giving off a big smile, it felt kinda funny saying that to anyone he didn’t really have anyone he knew to call senpai as they were only Kyousuke and A-chan he really didn’t know any other seniors.

As they began walking they continued to talk about some random subjects, but it seemed as though Tomoya was straying a lot from the mention about his father/family.

"Okazaki-senpai, huh? You can call me whatever you'd like to; honestly, I don't really mind." He shrugged and gave Riki a small smile. He thought it was a little weird that even though they just met; they were getting along just fine. Tomoya didn't talk to many people at school because almost everyone there thought he was nothing but a delinquent, so he didn't bother with them.

He didn't talk about his father at all; he knew that nothing good would come out of talking about something as depressing as that. The fact that he kept finding excuses not to go home; and that because of that Tomoya spent a lot of time at Sunohara's or wandering around the neighborhood alone at night... Riki probably wouldn't want to know about all that anyway.

"That's the place you're looking for.” He said, pointing to the small cafe nearby as they continued to walk. Once they got inside, Tomoya looked around before smiling slightly at Riki. "I come here every now and then; it's a really nice place."

Fuko snapped out of it as she blinks looking at him "What was we talking about again...?" She asked before she gasp in surprise as she notice her bag of starfish is gone

“About the starfish you gave me…” Tomoya bit his lip to stop himself from laughing when she gasped in surprise. She was obviously a naive person and that made it really hard for him not to play a prank on her; “What is wrong?” He asked with a small amused smile, still hiding the bag behind his back.

She turned her head to the side. “I’m annoyed because you piss me off.” She said matter-of-factly. It was just the way he said ‘hanging out with me’ was so casual, like calling someone by their first name. Speaking of that, when did she start calling Tomoya by his first name anyways?

She snorted. “Like who? Sunohara?” Or maybe Sakagami, she did come into his class that one time.. “If you want to eat with him so much then i’ll break his limbs so he’ll be in the hospital and can’t make it.” She smiled threateningly.

She blushed lightly; but turned it into anger. “Eh?! is there something wrong with Ryou?” She paused to take a sip of her latte. “I mean, come on she’s cute,” And if you don’t go out with her soon it’ll probably hurt more, “A-And I told you to stop calling her Fujibayashi! Just call her by her first name, Ryou.” She probably looked enraged. “When you call her Fujibayashi it could confuse the both of us; you do know we both share a last name, right?” She heaved a sigh. “Look if it’s so hard to call us both by our first name than just call me Fujibayashi and call her Ryou.” What was she doing? She even knew it would be weird for Tomoya to address her by her last name all of the sudden.

When she heard the next thing he said she almost coughed up her latte. Did that mean Ryou didn’t stand a chance? Her face turned red and she realized what he meant to say, date. “B-Baka I told you this wasn’t a date! So stop mocking me.” She stuttered embarrassingly. She really hoped her blushing looked like anger.

Absentmindedly, she wondered how Ryou would feel, if she saw the two of them like this. Did it really look like it? Two high schoolers at a coffee shop on their free time, yeah, it probably did. It made Kyou feel guilty.

"Yeah, yeah." He blinked at her words. "The way you say those kind of things with a smile on your face is really scary..." Tomoya muttered to himself. "Okay, fine. Let's say I don't eat lunch with anybody else. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to skip school once in a while; and maybe when I do go to school I'll feel like sleeping in the library or in the classroom during lunch, so... I won't eat lunch with you guys. And I don't want you to get all mad at me when that happens. Oh, and don't wake me up."

He let out a small, frustrated sigh. Talking about Ryou wasn't a good idea. Tomoya knew that Kyou was overprotective of her sister and that he should have been more careful with what he said because of that. "There is nothing wrong with her." He paused, trying to choose his words carefully (something he almost never did). Kyou tried to convince him that she wasn't planning on getting him and Ryou together; but right now it was even more obvious to Tomoya that that really was what she wanted to happen. "Yeah, yeah. I know; she is cute, she is kind.. but..."  How do I say this without making her angrier? "Well.. we are like, complete opposites of each other. She'd get tired of me soon enough." He said as if it was obvious. The words that fell from her mouth after that made him frown. "Why are you getting so worked up about this? She doesn't call me by my first name either. I can't and I won't call you Fujibayashi. That would be really weird..."

The look on her face made him feel guilty - in fact, this whole situation was making him feel a strange, sinking feeling in his chest; and he didn't even know why. Kyou got mad at him all the time, but this time it was different. She looked like Ryou when she was blushing - no, wait, could she possibly be...? No. There was no way she... "Kyou..." He would have noticed it sooner, right? He tried to push the thought away (he was probably mistaken anyway) and shook his head. "I'm not mocking you! I don't know why I even said that in the first place..."

“Attending class more than twice a week makes you a bookish guy, man. That’s my philosophy, and I’m sticking with it.” A flawed philosophy, of course. With a grin, the shorter delinquent reached up and wrapped an arm around Tomoya, pulling him down slightly.  ”We could stand here all day and talk about how smart we are, or we could go do something and have fun. I’m thinking about pork cutlets and junk food, man!”

Sunohara was right; it was pointless to continue talking about that (even thought Tomoya did enjoy making fun of him). "You can actually make some good points once in a while." He chuckled slightly and pulled away. "So I say we go to your place and eat some junk food." Tomoya said while pointing to Sunohara and giving a small nod.

"Yeah!" Ushio exclaimed after he suggested putting it next to the picture of her Mommy. "Then we'll be a Big Dango Family!" The young girl giggled and smiled up at her Daddy.

Tomoya chuckled softly and nodded his head. “That’s right.” She is just like her mother. He thought to himself with a soft smile on his face. “Oh, that’s right. Akki called earlier and asked if you wanted to play baseball with him and the other kids. What do you think?”

Riki could tell that he didn’t what to talk about his home so he played along. “Oh I see…” he said. “Oh you know where it is? Sure, thank you!” he responded to him.  ”By the way my name is Riki, Naoe Riki 2nd year.” Riki said to this guy he was wearing a school uniform but not one he was familiar with so he assumed he was a high school student also.

Tomoya was glad that he didn't press the subject further, since he didn't like to talk about his dad at all even to his closest friends. "Yeah, I went there a couple of times before. It's a nice place and I'm pretty sure it won't take us more than five minutes to get there." He said, giving a small nod as he started walking again. "Oh, right. I'm Okazaki Tomoya, 3rd year."

Cooro chuckles as he rubbed his head "Yeah..But the good thing about it I can try yummy food and meet other cool people like you mister!!'

“Well, thanks. I guess being a traveler sounds fun and stuff but what about your parents?” He asked, taking a quick look around to see if his parents were nearby.

Fuko giggles as she wave her arms in the air happily "Hehe you keep it as an keepsake as to remember fuko!!" Fuko spoke cheerfully as she stares at his starfish "As they are so cute and the greatest thing ever...." Fuko said going into her star gaze as she no longer pay attention to him or her surroundings

“Starfishes aren’t that great.” He murmured to himself when she started to talk about them like they were the best thing in the whole world. He cocked an eyebrow when she suddenly stopped talking. “Earth to Fuko.” Tomoya called after a few seconds, snapping his fingers in front of her face. An idea popped into his head and he grinned. Tomoya took her bag of starfish and hid it behind his back; and then waited for her to wake up.

Riki noticed his mind seemed elsewhere but continued talking to this stranger while they both weren’t doing anything else. “I guess I’m just wandering around myself, I had heard that there was a cafe close by and wanted to check it out.” he exclaimed. “But you don’t feel like going home?” he asked, it was strange for someone not wanting to go home but people always have there reason’s why, he was just asking out of pure interest.

Tomoya put his hand in his pockets and let out a small sigh when he heard the guy's question. "Let's just say that my home doesn't feel like home." He said plainly. He definitively wasn't in the mood to talk about his father so he tried to change the subject a little. "Well, I'm pretty sure I know which cafe you're talking about so if you don't know where it is exactly then I can show you the way."
