So, I think I need to get this off my chest. More for my sanity and self esteem than anything else. I know I never usually post anything personal, but bear with me please.

More and more, I'm seeing pretty hurtful and dismissive posts from people I follow. People who don't run porn blogs, because SURPRISE I have more interests than just vintage porn. They aren't anti porn, for the most part, they just refuse to see the human person behind a porn blog and it's getting me down. I'm into nerd stuff, other vintage stuff, food, pretty dresses, corgis, Feminism, body acceptance, gifs of dogs forgetting how to dog... I run a lot of other blogs from this account (drawing! mental health! random vintage! personal!) but this was the first one I created so when I like or follow, this is the name that shows up.

So when I see someone post something like 'why is this porn blog following me, there's nothing for you here'... what I hear is a STUNNING lack of understanding that people for the most part are multifaceted. We're not one thing, we're not into one thing only, we're not just a porn blog. There are things for us everywhere!

I'm twenty freaking nine. I once cried watching a gum commercial. I'm Australian, and I'd be grateful if I never saw another snake again for as long as I live. I am a human woman with interests and hobbies and a spouse. I love Firefly, Sense8, The Great British Bake Off, vintage fashions, crafting, my slow cooker, watching people successfully do winged eyeliner, body positive messages, and those gifs of people decorating cakes... I am not 'a porn blog'. I run a porn blog. We're not just a bunch of crazy drooling hornbags, stuck in a hive mind that can only think about lurid wall-to-wall boobs 24/7. I love vintage porn, because I love vintage everything. And I feel that vintage porn showcases a wider range of body types than modern porn could do in a pink fit. The lovely messages I’ve gotten from other women who have seen women like themselves in something ‘sexy’ for the first time and felt amazing and ‘normal’ for it makes me feel all dancey!

Just because we blog porn/erotica, does not mean we aren't nerds, geeks, cosplayers, in the fandom, history buffs, interested in your interests, down with your message or REALLY in need of your message. I was asked to unfollow a body positive tumblr simply because I run a porn blog. This was extremely hard for me, when it was such an integral part of building my self esteem (which I have none of). If you feel your message is important, why don't you accept that many varied people with varied blogs will be drawn to it? Not just cute blogs with an all pink theme or something.

I hear a lot of 'I love all my followers, if you need someone to talk to, talk to me'. Which I've honestly never found backed up, especially once they see what Vandals posts. One of my favourite quotes is from 'First Knight' (don't judge me, I had a huge crush on Julia Ormond when I was a teenager... ok, so I still do now too), where King Arthur says 'I can't love people in slices'. That's how I feel about the way people treat others on this site. They want to be loving to the people with acceptable blogs and ignore us because we're somehow less than human and could obviously have nothing in common with them. But if I message you from one of my other blogs, we're best friends in a week.

But I can't love people in slices either, poorly acted Arthur. I give you a chance even if your views and blog and Veronica Mars OTP are different from mine (if it's not Logan, I will ponder your sanity just a little though).

What I'm trying to say is that there are whole, real, 3D people behind URLs and blog themes. Some of the most perfectly lovely, uplifting, and intelligent conversations for me have come from other porn blog runners, people with nothing on their blog at all, and people who post nothing but photos of their minifigs in fun locations.

We're not porn blogs, we're people.

And you could be missing out on a fantastic new friendship by being judgmental, and seeing us as nothing but 1D. The same as you’re not just Supernatural or gifs of cats in boxes (although, that’d be pretty cool anyway).
