Fallout should have a quest line where you have to find holotapes of Old World music, and when you bring it to the owner of the radio station, it gets added to what you can listen to.
Bonus points if the dj says something along the lines of “we’ve got a new tune brought to you by a local wanderer/soldier/courier/etc.”
Bonus points if it includes a part where the protagonist finds a stash of confiscated bootleg holotapes, which all contain music banned by the pre-war government for being too un-american
It turns out to all be post-1950s music from artists who have never been featured in Fallout before (The Rolling Stones, Beatles, AC/DC, Queen, etc.)
Funny story, but when working on Fallout 3, I actually recommended a side-quest where you could find an archive of old tapes and bring them to 3-Dog to add to the station’s musical rotation. Except the fun part was that the songs you added would be pulled from audio files you had set in a special directory on your PC or console. The scripting would have taken some work, but the general execution was well within reach, and there wasn’t anything that would have prevented us from adding them to the musical rotation, complete with some additional generic lines from the DJ about these new songs. Alas, the idea was nixed by Todd - partially because there would be concerns about music rights (yes, even if it’s your own audio files), but mostly because he felt that adding your own audio to the game would ruin his intended tone. So it goes.

How do you feel about Fallout: New Vegas's reputation for "cracking eggs"?
I don't think the game itself does it (or at least I haven't seen a compelling argument for why this RPG, specifically, would do it), but there are clearly a lot of trans people within the F:NV community who had pivotal experiences re: their gender identity around the time they played the game or started interacting with the community. I think it's more likely that trans people within the F:NV community created a welcoming space for other people who felt more comfortable being themselves.
I don't think I can take any credit for it, but I'm glad for it.
