Argosy students gathered in outrage to protest on Tuesday afternoon, after the Department of Education suspended Argosy, and some art institute campuses, for not meeting their financial obligations.

Argosy currently has over 17,000 students, including hundreds of clinical/counseling psychology PhD/PsyD students. It is closing this week, leaving those students without financial aid and with transcripts that may not transfer to new programs.

This is why I caution you all so regularly about non-university-based, high volume, tuition-based graduate programs. Their training is lower quality, expensive, and even predatory. The Argosy students don’t deserve this outcome, and many programs are trying to help them (I’ve talked to multiple faculty today alone who are actively trying to make sure Argosy students will be able to complete their degrees). Avoid this risk at all costs- attend a graduate program that is high quality and does not rely on your financial aid to pay its bills.
