-Gula watched the scene from a distance, a warm yet guilty smile on his face, he watched softly-

The leopard Reversed nudges Gula towards the boys

-he sighed and hesitantly went towards the boys-

I messed up, i'm sorry you two. It's been... a while since I used my magic and- no thats an excuse. I was reckless. I acted on impulse. I'm sorry, boys.

Still working on the whole forgiving you thing after that, you know. Hey, do you know what it's like to be in an inescapable torture labyrinth made of your own mind??

Pisses me off. My unversed would have been able to take care of themselves, and... I could've handled it, dammit, but you made Ven scared all over again and-...

He breaks away from Ven and curls back down on the bed.

-Gula paused unsure of what to say or do... he'd ever really only been close with one person before the boys and he sure as hell didn't have these types of delicate situations... he looked away and sat down against the wall-

...You have every right to be angry, I'm sure I would be too.

#(You know how like you have a sore throat so your voice keeps breaking? I'm trying to make that show through the text)#(He was trying to use body language to see if Gula was being genuine because mask)#(Also Ven is ready to forgive Gula because it was genuinely an accident and Gula worked tirelessly to wake Van)#(But also also there's the anxiety saying it was retaliation but either way he'd never actually forgive Gula until after Van does)#(Because he believes that it's Van's call)

Ven frowns at the loss of contact. He hesitantly reaches out to grab Vanitas's hand, occasionally looking back at Gula, trying to find something in his body language. When he finally speaks, he's focused entirely on Vanitas

Ven's curled up on the bed next to Vanitas, fingers pressed to the pulse point on his neck and head on his chest, ear pressed against where Vanitas's heart is. He only just fell asleep, exhaustion hitting him like a truck. The lovby is nestled in Vanitas's hair. Doll and Rose are curled up with them. A new reversed, this one a leopard, sits at the foot of the bed, watching over them

(long post be warned)

-Gula gently sat in the room nearby, seeing ventus so panicked caused him to feel guilty, thats when he saw the reversed... he was caught off guard but stayed silent in fear of waking the newly resting ventus and the prior sleeping van-

#(I've decided the leopard reversed has the ability to make shields and wake people from being asleep)#(Because it's made of the feeling of safety Ven gets from Gula)#(So shields. But ALSO one of Ven's biggest fears is himself or his loved ones being put to sleep and unable to wake)#(You know because of trauma)#(Anyway the dream projection thing is because of the really cool visual of Van in the reversed's eye so I wanted to incorporate that)#(But also I didn't wanna just make it a reskinned dream eater)

The reversed silently, but gracefully, towards Gula. It huffs, bites his sleeve, and tugs him toward the sleeping boys. It rubs against Vanitas's head, then its eyes flicker before glowing brighter. Vanitas almost wakes, his nightmare being projected onto the wall from the reversed's eyes, but the sleep spell wins out and he stays asleep.

Vanitas's face is stained with tears. His eyes sting. He's out of breath.

God...dammit... you idiot...

He feels something moving from under his skin; something alive.

What're they gonna--

He loses his balance and falls to the ground. Something is trying to claw its way out from inside of his body.

He was blissful. He was calm and safe. His brother and his new father's embrace truly comforted him.

All of that has twisted into visceral fear.

Horrible, terrible darkness. They'll kill you.

The Unversed bursts through his skin. Vanitas tries to cover his mouth but he screams anyway.

Vanitas?

Ven sees the unversed. It lashes out and tries to attack him. He dodges and runs to Vanitas's side, hugging Van close

It's okay. I'm here. We're here. It's okay, Nitas. You're safe. I promise

Ve..n...

You-- can't be here.

His voice is strained. Vanitas coughs multiple times. Ven can feel him trembling.

The fear deepens and he almost feels sick. He tries to speak again, but instead coughs out another writhing Unversed.

Stop. Stop it, Ventus. I'll hurt you.

I'm not leaving you alone. It'll be okay. Gul- Dad's here, too.

Ven adjusts their positions so Vanitas is basically in his lap. His body almost completely shields Van's

Each time his body shifts his vision cuts out. Static dances at his peripherals. He can barely make out Ven's voice.

The freshly formed Unversed scrape themselves on the surrounding terrain.

It hurts. Brother, save me, it hurts.

He tries to speak, but even the slightest breathy whisper just seems to tear his throat apart.

-Gula picks up all the feral unversed, preventing them from hurting themselves more...-

Vanitas, calm down, we're all here.... You're okay... we're here

Each breath Vani takes is sharp, uneven, and agonized.

Too many feelings. I wish I could stop them all.

Everything...is-- is all wrong...

He can barely see Gula's face. Everything he sees is just like static.

The Unversed thrash in Gula's hands.

-Gula sighed.... then decided maybe for now.. casting sleep was the best choice.-

Forgive me when you wake Vanitas, this will help though. Even if just to calm you down.

Unsurprisingly (although not for Gula because they didn't get to that part of the Tragic Backstory™️) this does not comfort Ven
