He cared for the boys, the guilt was clear enough evidence, here he was just himself. The mask was meaningless now so he discarded it (for now at least), he didn't try to speak again-

He only just fell asleep, exhaustion hitting him like a truck. The lovby is nestled in Vanitas's hair. Doll and Rose are curled up with them. A new reversed, this one a leopard, sits at the foot of the bed, watching over them

If Ven weren't completely passed out, he would feel his brother's heart gently pulsating. He's alive, if barely. The injuries the Unversed caused have not yet healed.

In sleep, Vanitas is completely still. His face rests completely calm.

But his mind still wakes.

He can't reach Ven. He's disoriented, half-conscious, in his heart he's thrashing and there's so much he can't feel and he needs to be scared and angry again if just to see his brother--

This sleep that should be content and peaceful is only twisting him further. He's deprived of the one thing that tethers him to the worlds.

Why is this fucking happening to me?

Can't feel a thing.

Where is Brother?

How long will this sleep last?

He wishes his heart could burst from his body as the Unversed do. He feels suffocated. He needs to wake.

The Reversed seems tense.

The reversed silently, but gracefully, towards Gula. It huffs, bites his sleeve, and tugs him toward the sleeping boys. It rubs against Vanitas's head, then its eyes flicker before glowing brighter. Vanitas almost wakes, his nightmare being projected onto the wall from the reversed's eyes, but the sleep spell wins out and he stays asleep.

-Gula sat with his back towards the bed, his knees to his chest, he felt guilty still, but he watched the nightmare Vanitad was happing anyways... he felt so damn awful about it-

The Unversed bursts through his skin. Vanitas tries to cover his mouth but he screams anyway.

Ven sees the unversed. It lashes out and tries to attack him. He dodges and runs to Vanitas's side, hugging Van close

It's okay. I'm here. We're here. It's okay, Nitas. You're safe. I promise

His voice is strained. Vanitas coughs multiple times. Ven can feel him trembling.

The fear deepens and he almost feels sick. He tries to speak again, but instead coughs out another writhing Unversed.

Stop. Stop it, Ventus. I'll hurt you.

I'm not leaving you alone. It'll be okay. Gul- Dad's here, too.

Ven adjusts their positions so Vanitas is basically in his lap. His body almost completely shields Van's

Each time his body shifts his vision cuts out. Static dances at his peripherals. He can barely make out Ven's voice.

The freshly formed Unversed scrape themselves on the surrounding terrain.

It hurts. Brother, save me, it hurts.

He tries to speak, but even the slightest breathy whisper just seems to tear his throat apart.

The freshly formed Unversed scrape themselves on the surrounding terrain.
