”Hey there, Hilda!” Aaron greeted her instantaneously— not quite giving her a glance before swerving from his original path to the counter and redirecting himself to glance around the room, beaming mechanically. “Whoa, hey, it’s built up real nice, with the decorations and stuff! Good work!” The pleased nodding that followed eventually drifted and he finally made his way up to her.
"Not that I was worried, of course—" He added as an afterthought with a dismissive wave of his hand. And he hadn’t been— for the most part. Transitioning the building with an expansion had been a fun job and one of his biggest ones to date— but Hilda had pegged him as the kind of person who could manage it. Well, probably. His people skills weren’t terribly solid yet, so who knew?
"I actually have a job that’s gonna take a few good days and I’m not sure I feel up to going back and forth to the mountain if it’s all I’m gonna be focusing on." He tapped his ten fingers against the counter in one motion. "Couldn’t pass up a chance to stay here either, heh! Book me a couple of nights?"
𝕊eeing Aaron enter, Hilda relaxed, knowing she wouldn't have to keep up a perfectly professional image. Having worked with him before, she knew that she got along well enough with him.
"Hey Aaron, long time no see!" She grinned back, leaning against the counter, watching him admire the work. "Thank you very much, I did do my best~"
Honestly, she couldn't be more thankful for the work Aaron had done. Without his work she'd still be stuck in a dingy old farmhouse with no income. Besides, he was fun to deal with, not like the old frustrating people she was assumed most workmen to be like.
When she heard the news, she grinned broadly. "I'm glad to hear it! I have my best room free if you'd like it." Scribbling some notes down, she asked, "What are you up to?" Winking, she added, "Or is it top secret~?"
