Gozan no okuribi- Five mountains bonfires on 16th of August.

Giant bonfires are lit on five mountains surrounding Kyoto city.

It marks the end of the Obon festival, guiding the spirits of ancestors back to the spirit world.

1. Daimonji (Great)

2. Myo-Ho (Buddha’s remarkable teaching)

3. Funagaa (ship)

4. Hidari Daimonji (Great (depicted on the left mountain))

5. Toriigata (shrine gate)

I noticed some of my ancestors around me this obon. Hope they went back to where they suppose to be.

Fushimi, there are 18 sake breweries and we can taste all of them at izakaya with tofu and sake lees.
