Shirley Dieu speaks on Elvis & Ginger ☁️
“Elvis and Ginger showed up in Joe’s and my bedroom once more.
Elvis said, “Hey, let’s meditate.”
Then Joe said, “You guys go ahead, I have to take care of some calls in the living room.”
I can’t even imagine Joe of all people wanting to meditate.
So Joe slipped out of the bedroom leaving Elvis, me and Ginger on the bed.
Elvis had Ginger and me sit in a circle with him and we held hands in silence as he hummed.
After a short time, Elvis started to share his knowledge of meditation, then we were abruptly interrupted by the phone ringing. I answered it. It was Joe wanting to know if Elvis was through meditating. I told him yes and, as I hung up the phone, I could see out of the corner of my eye Elvis taking Ginger’s hand and quickly placing it on his left shoulder, then patting it as if to let her know to keep it there.
Then I turned around and in a sad, “little boy” type of way, Elvis said, “See Shirley, Ginger loves me. Just like you love Joe.”
Ginger’s hand sat there like a wet noodle on Elvis’s shoulder.
Then, once again, Elvis reached up and placed his hand on Ginger’s and began to stroke and pat her hand ever so gently as if to say, “See? See, Shirley?”
Ginger never smiled, and her eyes never met his.
She just sat there like a mannequin.
I felt so sorry for Elvis.
I only wished that I could have done or said something to make him feel loved.
I don’t believe that it was necessarily Ginger that Elvis wanted; he just wanted love.
He had obviously seen firsthand what Joe and I had together and had commented on our relationship several times before.
Elvis was no different, and like anyone else, he wanted the fairy tale as well as the magic.”

Side note: I think this story is really important to share because you do get a glimpse of the desperation that pulsated through Elvis.
His desperate need to be loved & comforted + seen.
The man longed for companionship & understanding. It seems that he wasn’t yet willing to make the major changes needed to conquer the things he most wanted.
