Authors: Jules, Kenedi, Brianna For years, The CW and Warner Bros. Television have attempted to capitalize on the popularity of the hit seri
Excerpt:
Additionally, the writers room has done a brilliant job of making characters with complex backstories that keep you both intrigued to learn more while also making them instantly relatable. None are perfect, all are flawed in their own ways, and they each feel like a fully fleshed-out character in their own right. It’s impossible not to instantly love each of them as they grapple with doing the right thing while hunting yet also making mistakes and learning together as a group. We’ve only had a season with them, and yet each character has undone immense character development that television often lacks for a lead cast of this size. It’s a testament to both the strength of the writers room and the bond between the main cast that every single character interaction feels effortless and natural.
Rowena is back! 'Supernatural' alum Ruth Connell will guest-star in an episode of 'The Winchesters.'
Now, with The Winchesters taking place before the time of Supernatural, it's possible we'll be seeing Rowena in the past. But then again, you never quite know what you're going to get on a Supernatural show. Her character description reads: "A natural-born witch with immense power, Rowena has been outwitting all who wish her ill since the 17th century — even death itself. Be it magic, vengeance, or a fine vintage wine, Rowena always gets what she wants — and no friend or foe can stand in her way."

21 years after Smallville aired on The CW, actor Tom Welling is still an active name in the industry. From his podcast with Smallville co-star Michael Rosenbaum to roles in Lucifer, Professionals, …
The character is sort of an Indiana Jones kind of guy. His daughter thinks that he left her but what he really did is he went out to try to get rid of all these bad things that are in this world to protect her. I’ve been able to shoot a couple episodes already, and the cast is so much fun, and they’re so excited. It’s great to be back on set with these guys and play a character that that has an impact on the trajectory of the storyline of the main character. It’s great. I think I’ve got two more episodes to go.

Tom Welling and Jensen Ackles had a history of working together and friendship, which is how Ackles inspired him to accept his role on "The Winchesters."
Even after Ackles' time on "Smallville," he and Welling kept in touch.
So, when it came time for Ackles to produce "The Winchesters," he had a particular role for Welling in mind: the Winchester brothers' maternal grandfather Samuel Campbell.
As it turns out, the actors' bond is what prompted Welling to accept the role. It's always great to work with your friends, knowing what kind of environment they foster on set. L
ooper spoke to Welling during an exclusive interview, where he discussed getting cast as Samuel Campbell on "The Winchesters" and how his confidence in Jensen Ackles inspired him to accept the role.

EXCLUSIVE: Faced with their first decision on ordering more of the CW’s existing scripted series, the network’s new Nexstar owners opted against it. I hear there will be no back orders for the CW’s new fall series, Walker: Independence, from CBS Studios, and The Winchesters, from Warner Bros. Television, whose freshman seasons will remain at the original 13 episodes.
I hear that would be applied to all CW freshman series and that the network’s head, Dennis Miller, stressed to producers and talent that no decisions about next season have been made, indicating that the lack of back orders does not mean cancellations.
Still, the decision further underlines Nexstar’s push to cut costs, including moving toward more. unscripted and cheaper scripted programming. Four CW scripted series are ending this season, The Flash, Riverdale, Nancy Drew and Stargirl. The list is expected to grow as the season progresses.
Also as part of the cuts, the CW underwent a round of layoffs earlier today.
Both Walker: Independence and The Winchesters have done well by CW ratings standards and are new chapters in hugely popular CW franchises, so, under normal circumstances, full seasons for both shows would have been a no-brainer.

“I’ll be really honest with you. I am — with great purpose — not online as much these days. But I will say that knowing the Supernatural fans the way that I do, I’m sure that there are 15 billion different iterations [of] theories. I can’t imagine with smart and savvy fans that some folks may not have been able to kind of pick up what we’ve been laying down. But in terms of actual reactions to it, no, I don’t know.
I’m hopeful that people are speculating. We certainly designed it in a way that we were hoping would generate some debate. As I said before, it’s not something we’re going to … those are cards that we’re not going to hold close to our chest forever. We really want to attack that in this first season.”
