2019 World Championships Ladies Medal Ceremony
After the competition, Alina Zagitova admitted this medal meant more to her than the Olympic gold medal. “At the Olympics, many people thought that I rushed in too quickly, achieved this success, and this season I had to prove, first of all to myself, that I was able to win.”
Don Quixote
Olympic Rewind: One year ago today, Alina Zagitova became the Olympic Champion. ♡
Some highlights of her win include: A world record short program score of 82.92, which would go on to become a historical record with the score reset following the 2017-18 season. She set a new personal best with a combined score of 239.57. At fifteen years and 281 days, she became one of the youngest Olympic Champion figure skaters. She became the only senior competitor to have both programs with all of the jumps in the second half. Her combination jump of 3Lz-3Lo was technically the most difficult combination performed by any lady in the field, and higher scoring irrespective of where it appeared in her programs.
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, ALINA!
