What is The Wonderful Warriors?
TWW was established in August 2012 as a positive response to the infamous The Worst Warriors, as a way to lift up what was good in the fandom rather than mock what was bad. The blog was a joint effort by preteen mods Horsestar and Jay, later joined by Spirits.
What was TWW then?
Back when the Tumblr Warriors fandom was still in its early stages, the mods would share credited art from deviantArt, often accompanied by comments on its strengths as a way to encourage positivity. We shared a range of art on the blog with differing levels of skill. What set us apart was the fact that we were one of the few Warriors fanblogs at the time to credit the original artist through multiple means.
What is TWW now?
TWW’s original mods have long since dispersed, leaving only Mod Jay behind to work the blog. Very few art-sharing Warriors blogs now remain, and we are the most active of those that still exist. Though this is now much more of a general fanblog, I intend to carry on the legacy of the blog’s conception and promote creativity in the fandom wherever possible.
Right now, TWW shares art created by artists on Tumblr, including illustrations, videos, fiction, and more. While we still share from other sites from time to time, I have some more rules on this to ensure repost permission is gained, and reposting is no longer the focus of this blog.
What is the future of TWW?
I would like to continue growing the blog at similar rates to its peak in 2015. Having a wider audience gives me more opportunities for community promotion and propping up unnoticed creators. Eventually, I would like to spearhead a community Discord server revolving around sharing creations, but this hinges on my ability to regain the level of community engagement I once had.
I’m also in the process of creating a number of ‘masterlists’ that can direct you to artists and creations (e.g. design blog masterlist). This, along with artshare and community events I have planned will all be in the service of promoting artists in the Warriors community.
How can I help?
Just hitting the follow button and engaging with the art I share is the biggest help you can be. Many artists suffer from the lack of sharing, audience growth, and verbal engagement on their creations due to the ‘like’ button being prioritised, and TWW’s primary endeavour is to reverse that. Following this blog opens you up to finding new fanwork that may have otherwise slipped under the radar.
Furthermore, engaging with any discussions or events run by this blog helps me to gauge my reach, allowing me to judge whether I can put new plans in place. Basically, any little helps! I will continue running this blog at its current level regardless of my community reach.
