Just finished Peaky Blinders for the first time. (So excited for the movie and beyond glad I don’t have to wait years for it.)
I’d love to see a prequel series to it though! Tommy and his brothers growing up, fill in some of the holes of their family and lives growing up, and follow them through the war.
There’s just so many good stories to be told! Only challenge would be finding a good match to play a young Cillian.

The movie was…… a disappointment.

I'm struggling to find this White Collar fic that I know I have saved somewhere. I thought it was livejournal but I can't seem to find it there. (and if it's on FF.net, I'm unfortunately not able to get the site to load, which is a whole other issue)
It's a pre-series fic, where Peter and El are on vacation in Mexico (I'm pretty sure on that). Peter gets a tip (I think from Mozzie) that Neal has been arrested and is in a jail there, requesting his help to get Neal out. Peter gets Neal released and drives him back to where he and Mozzie are staying, but as Peter is leaving Neal collapses in the driveway. Peter gets him inside where he and Mozzie get Neal to the bathroom to clean him up and clean his wounds.
That's pretty much all I remember if anyone can help me find it I'd really appreciate it!

Seriously though, kids these days are so eager to lick boot and call it rebellion. If you say unalive instead of kill because you'll lose your funding, congratz, you let them censor you. "They'lltake away our revenue!" And? Rebellion comes with consequences, change is a fight, protecting your values comes at a cost.

The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.
So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.
This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
That’s not sad, that’s awesome.
*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing

What happened the to asteroid itself after the huge Impact? Was it just eroded away? With how big it was, there’s gotta be at least pieces of it left, right? This is thing that always get me with stuff like this. People almost never talk about what happened to the asteroid, though I don’t really have enough interest to seek the info myself so that could just be me not looking
most of the Chicxulub asteroid was vaporized on impact and settled into a layer of fine particles that's found in rock layers worldwide, but it also actually did punch all the way through the crust and into the mantle, completely destabilizing Earth's volcanic cycle, so slight traces of it may still exist inside the Earth as well!

Took an incredible amount of delight in my seven year old son's decision to create a "television" out of two cardboard boxes, one of which he would sit in, the other of which went over his head and had a "screen" cut out, in which he would sit and tell us the news or weather or sing. "This is what people did before they had televisions," he explained, confidently.
Later in the day I took him, with his boxes, to his mother's Dresden Dolls soundcheck, and afterwards he got onto the stage in his boxes and performed his television for the first couple of dozen people to be allowed in. I got him off the stage by telling him it was time for him to take a bow. He took his bow. People applauded. Someone gave him a dollar which he considers the first money he has ever earned, and means he informed me after he swaggered off the stage still high on the applause that he was now "rich and famous, Dadda".
When he discovered, half an hour later, that his mother and Brian Viglione were performing without him on the stage in his box he took it very badly and pointed out that I had tricked him offstage and that he could be up there being famous and getting more dollars because people would like his television much more than they would like his mother's singing and Brian's drumming. So we walked home together and watched Minions.
Neil: Drew, can you pay for this for me?

Nicky: he can't just pay for you !!

Sorry, I could never be a capitalist, I suffer from “wanting humans to have their basic needs met” disorder, where I care about people who aren’t me.
Someone once asked me if, assuming we got universal healthcare, I would be okay with the rise in “healthcare tourism” where people who are sick come to our country to get their medical bills taken care of and life-saving medical treatment cheaper than in their home countries. I was just like, yeah thats fine, I’d actually prefer it if 0 people died from preventable causes kept behind a paywall for no reason.
