For the @dashcon-two Crow Exchange, I made custom DashCon/Magic the Gathering trading cards. They were a huge hit! Unfortunately, it was my first convention I've ever gone to and I accidentally handed them out wayyyy too fast and had people tracking me down all day and had to send them away empty handed. So to make up for it I've decided to publish the files for them here! Feel free to print them out and stick them on your own cards. If you end up playing any games with them I'd love to see. (Also included is the Tumblr University card that no one got because I accidentally left them behind in the U.S. lol)

im glad this version of the post is making rounds now. the amount of casual ai use i see some teachers do these days is disgusting and they genuinly dont see the problem with making school assignments for children using chatgbt, and even encourage them to use it themselves. school is about teaching kids how to think and they're taking that away from them. this is a sickness and we should be calling it out more so people realize the damage they're doing

i subbed a 7th grade class a few months ago and i gave them a written assignment and they had to use their textbook to find answers and weren't allowed to copy the text, they had to rewrite the answers in their own words. a simple thing i was taught as a kid. i banned the use of ipads and phones for the duration of the class.

50% of the kids couldn't find the many of the answers, even though they only had one chapter to read. the other 45% didnt know how to rewrite the answers in their own words. only 5% finished the assignment properly. they asked me repeatedly if they could ask chatgbt. almost all of their handwriting was on 1-4th grade levels. i struggled to read most of it.

this isnt their fault. the school system is failing them. the adults are failing them. 'we're evolving with the times' we are losing our ability to think for ourselves, and its all thanks to the system being set up. we should all be angry. why aren't we more angry

also one thing i've noticed, the kids that do all assignments and get the best grades have either;

-a home life where they're being taught properly

its never the kids' fault. it's how they're being taught.

I'll admit I'm wondering how any of these kids are going to be able to eg. do a job interview or a thesis defense or even just answer questions after a presentation. Their ability to critically think and seek information to ingest is just never being nurtured.

exactly this. chatgbt takes away their opportunity to research for themselves, so they dont learn how to. getting answers immediately takes away their chance to brainstorm. getting screens shoved in their face from toddler age prevents them from learning how to be bored, hence taking away their imagination. i really hope this problem gets fixed

look, i work at a morgue, i get to see every day how withered and small bodies can get when someone was sick. it’s awful. do you know how bone-thin a leg can get. or how a stomach really looks beneath the ribs when it’s wasted away. the way people’s eyes and cheeks press in to their skull like they’re clinging on for dear life. they died like that, and you want to try and sell me a lie, a pill, a miracle cure that’ll make me live in that state? that’ll make my friends look like that, my family, the people i love? to see corpses in them?

this job makes me appreciate all the more bodies lived in and well-loved. please eat that second serving. please give yourself treats as much as you want. life is not long enough to suffer through it. you’ll be plenty skinny when you’re dead.

Daniel Olson has a lot of quality one liners, but the king of all kings was him pointing out that the author self-insert of 50 shades was, in fact, Christian instead of Anastasia. There's been many good criticisms of this awful franchise, but i haven't seen one quite as elegant since i became aware of its terribleness.
