Writing tip pt 9

When writing my novels I imagine everything happening as if it were a movie scene. It’s not screenwriting, but it gives you more details to add. It helps you with describing the lighting, the overall mood of the characters, the facial expressions, the sound of their voice.

Movies also have closeups and dramatic effects like showing sweat dripping down the characters face or worry trembling from their lips.

Movies also sometimes scan the environment around the characters, bringing more of a feeling like you’re there. You hear the breeze moving across the trees, you see the bright green pigments of pine trees, you smell the mossy forest floor, you step across the crunchy leaves.

It helps me so so much with dialogue because I can play the scene over a few times in my head to catch the emotion in their voice rather than just writing “said” after their line

My desire to write has gone out the window because my family is dragging their feet to read my novel I finished that they all claimed they were so excited to read :(

Is anyone interested in reading a short story that is a twist off from Snow White?

Snow White’s memory is altered, but one thing she knows for sure: she is a vampire. Snow White works for the dwarves as they find the jewel to cure her of her curse. They discover it lies in the hands of royalty. Snow White searches for the jewel and unexpectedly falls for the prince. Then the queen arrives and all goes wrong. Will Snow White live happily ever after?
