Being a world renowned detective didn’t necessarily mean that Bruce was always right. There had been many times when he had been proven wrong and this was one of them. “I probably shouldn’t have assumed,” he said sheepishly as he grabbed the bottle, carefully noting the label. “I just see guys having one drink after another and I kind of have to ask. I was there once myself centuries ago, but I don’t drink anymore. I had to quit for my health. My liver isn’t what it used to be.”

He gave the man an honest smile. “I like livin’ dangerously, but I’m more the ‘throw myself out of a plane’ type than a ‘slowly shut my internal organs down’ type.” When he was done with the bottle, Xander took it back and took another sip, “No hard feelings, man,” though he tilted his head, a playful little smirk. “Centuries ago? You some sorta vampire?” There was no way, but he’d thought that about a lot of things that had ended up being true.

Xander raised an eyebrow as he looked over to the guy wearing a suit that looked way too expensive to be in a dive bar like this. “You ain’t that perceptive, are you, man?” he said with a smirk, sliding the bottle over to him, the big ‘non-alcoholic’ label facing him. “Not out drinking anyone.”

I’ve got so many tbh. The main one that’s taking over my brain atm is @criimeconcierge .Ones that I try to keep up with right now but they fade in and out are @lorcanthropy and @empathickally, but I’ve got a lot of other ones, OC and canons. I should make a blogroll for myself or something xD

Xander just smirked, “I don’t think they got a last call on cranberry juice and club soda.” Of course, they had to stop selling soon, those were the rules. That didn’t mean he couldn’t stick around a little while longer. “Don’t need to sweet talk a beautiful lady for some fizzy juice, do I?” Besides, he’d heard a few things about this so-called bartender.

Robert Klein, 29, had been their FIRST number, followed by Santiago Lambert, 27. They’d eventually discovered that MR. KLEIN had made a deal with the mob & within a GROWING corporation, he was aiding them in MONEY LAUNDERING. A sizable part of money was coming from & involved in human trafficking—–among other ILLEGAL activity, such as selling dangerous weapons on the black market, MURDER, false imprisonment … the list was a long one. Mr. Lambert was INVESTIGATING, despite the danger & threat of his life … thus, once any indication of this investigation became known, Mr. Klein had paid someone to TAKE Mr. Lambert out.

Finch & Reese had their victim held within a SAFE HOUSE whilst they worked to strategize … albeit, shortly after, ANOTHER number had been given out that was also now connected to their … PROBLEM & that person’s name was Xander Cage. Finch, having taken a moment to LOOK INTO how Mr. Cage tied to Mr. Klein or Mr. Lambert, discovered that HE had made his disdain  of what was happening relatively clear—–which RESULTED in Finch’s quick realization that several, HEAVILY ARMED & well-trained men were making their way toward Mr. Cage’s apartment, nearing the stairway.

He managed to FIND & connect to the man’s phone & when it RANG, the caller ID read Caller Unknown. It rang only three times before the TONE stopped, followed by silence & a slight sound of uncertain breathing. Finch didn’t waste any time. His own voice RESOUNDED clearly, albeit with a tinge of strain as he attempted to speak as QUICKLY & efficiently as he could within such a short span of time.

 ❝ I’m AFRAID we don’t have time for introductions—–     your distaste with Mr. Klein’s involvement with the     mob wasn’t taken LIGHTLY, Mr. Cage. There’s several     armed & dangerous men acceding to your apartment,     intent on KILLING you. They’re far toward the bottom,     right now & there’s a FIRE ESCAPE just outside of your     window, as I’m sure you’re aware. You’ll have plenty of     time if you go as soon as possible. That’s gonna be     your best bet if you wanna stay alive. ❞

It was easy enough to make these idiots believe he was just part of the crew that helped transport the girls for export. Outside of the background checks, no one gave a shit about what you looked like or where you spent your days when you weren't doing your job. It was always the assholes in the big, expensive board rooms that did this shit, played with people's lives, ripped families apart, killed people by simply forgetting they existed, their struggles existed. Xander did as little as he could to actually help them, he knew enough guys in the port that would be receiving the girls to have a raid scheduled right as the ship docked. These girls would survive with their lives, would see their families again. 

Of course, in doing so, someone had found out. This asshole Mr. Klein. He didn't know exactly what was planned, but he could see that they weren't buying his act anymore, and that something was definitely up. So when he got the call from an unknown number—the only kind he really got anymore—he picked up and waited for whoever it was to say their piece. The voice wasn't one he'd heard before, though, and for just the barest of moments, he was confused. 

Whoever it was knew his name, and knew about him, not his cover story, him. Part of him was wary, but as the information came that he was about to be killed, Xander smirked. He checked his own CCTV monitors, where the smirk faded, then leaned out the fire escape, towards where he knew a camera was, looking around for the best escape route. "Don't know how you knew that, but I'll run with it." He hated running, but that was a lot of guys on the way up to his apartment. Hopping out, he did some ridiculous parkour to make it to street level quicker. "Okay, creepy voice...If you can see the CCTV inside the building, what else can you see?" Xander put a hat on, and a thin jacket to cover his tattoos, and started walking towards a more populated area. "Give me an exit route."

                Did she seem convinced? No. Not at all. If he fancied himself as a modern-day Robin Hood, then who better to target than a Countess with a famed private collection? It certainly couldn’t be the first time someone had decided to make an attempt to steal from her – and it wouldn’t be the last. Since returning to Croft Manor, she had made it a point to have a modern security system installed during the restoration of her ancestral home. She had spared no expense. But, even so, there had been those talented enough to slip through the cracks. Thus far, she had been able to fight them off each time … but she’d be a fool not to be wary. 

                Even her famous luck was bound to run out someday.

“Listen. I know who you are, and you don’t have to worry about any of your precious treasures. I don’t steal.” Well, not in the way she was thinking at least. He’d take money, or give things back to the people instead of letting fat cat billionaires rest on their laurels, but priceless artifacts? Stuff people collected and stuff that went in museums? Not his scene. “I’ve never even been to a museum.” Xander sipped his drink and just looked at her, He understood her distrust, and he was technically a criminal, enemy of the state or whatever you wanted to call him, but that didn’t mean he was going to go steal some old Egyptian statue. Where was the fun in that? 

“Chill out. That’s all I’m saying.”

look if you’re in an RP group of any sorts, you don’t need to have all your members tag LITERALLY. EVERY. ASK. THEY ALL GET with “[fandom name] rp”. Because now I can’t find any other members of that fandom who aren’t part of your group because EVERYTHING IN THE TAG IS YOUR GROUPS.
