To the Edge of the Sky is a free unofficial visual novel game by indie developer Aeon Dream Studios, known for their Mystic Destinies games.
This is the relaunch campaign to support the guarantee start-up of regular releases to the app, rather than the full cost of development for a full game.
Inspired by the members of South Korean boyband BTS, and the themes presented in their music, the first demo was released in March 2017. Played around the world, the first demo, PHASe 1 was met with both high praise and high demand for a full game. Although the game is inspired by the band, the universe and plots are completely original and can be enjoyed by anyone looking for a great visual novel experience. We are not affiliated with BTS or BigHit Entertainment in any way.
After much deliberation, Aeon Dream decided to go further with To the Edge of the Sky as a FREE game, giving the art style a revamp in the process. Even though TTEOTS is being developed as a fan made game, Aeon Dream and those who work with them are still developers who need to cover costs. That’s where YOU come in! (Due to potentially high volume of questions, please refer to the FAQ before sending general questions for the fastest answers. We will constantly update it as we’re sent questions. There will also be a Kickstarter-specific FAQ added to the campaign as questions are sent in.)
Enter the year 2077 and become Seven, the newest addition to Phantom Alpha, a secret team who operates under the enigmatic government organization known as P.H.A.N.T.A.S.M. After joining, you find yourself befriending the other rookie on the team, an incredibly skilled youth known as Zero. As you meet the other members, you quickly learn that while vastly talented, each of them is clearly much more than meets the eye.
Regardless of your differences, you quickly learn what Phantom Alpha can do. But together, you soon discover that on the other side of the radiant world of light, lies an equally dark world of shadow. Can you brave these worlds and trust the men by your side?
To the Edge of the Sky takes place in a science fiction setting, specifically invoking the aesthetic and themes of the post-cyberpunk genre. If the first stretch goal is reached, we would like to expand the game for double the length! The game itself was planned have two different narrative paths to appeal to the wide fanbase, but has been set aside for now due to the lower goal. Right now, only Seven’s path will be available to begin playing.
There will be a free version of the game for everyone to enjoy.
A premium membership through an exclusive app is being planned. We’re still working out the specifics, but it may have things like additional CGs, more customization, and extra scenes but won’t affect the main storyline.
The musical direction is undecided currently, as it depends on funding, but we promise you high quality, original tracks.
We’re planning to release an update every 1-2 months. The precise way we’re doing this is still being decided.
We’d love to continue with fan translations, but a full game is a much bigger project than a demo. With the reduced budget, we will likely only support Korean and Portuguese for now, coming after the English releases.
