On my drive home from work for the first time in almost 2 years I’ve gotten the urge to just drive; as many hours as it took to reach our crackle barrel by morning. And have breakfast there like we used to all the time. But this time, it’d be different.

Different because you wouldn’t be sitting across from me. You wouldn’t be staring down puzzled at that little triangular peg game, focused but confident that you’d beat it. You wouldn’t be downing a whole trees worth of apple juice like you used to. You wouldn’t look up at me and giggle because I’d be waiting for you with a “yeah right hand it over” face to lose the game so I could show you up like I always used to. We were so competitive just as best friends are.
