I started these in 2024, most being done early 2024 and I hope posting them here will rekindle my focus to continue with chapter 5!

The Delicious in Dungeon manga, known as Dungeon Meshi, is created by Ryōko Kui. It’s set in a fantasy world where adventurers explore dungeons for treasures, including the fabled Golden Kingdom. The story begins with six adventurers trying to defeat a dragon, but they fail and lose their leader’s sister, Falin, to the dragon’s belly. Three members—Laios, Chilchuck, and Marcille—decide to rescue her. To fund their mission, they come up with a plan to cook and eat dungeon monsters, inspired by old Dungeons & Dragons games. As they explore, they meet Senshi, a dwarf with monster-cooking skills and Lisa, a tall-man with seasoned sword fighting skills. They face challenges in the dungeon, crafting meals from their discoveries, and the story adds humour as they react to these unusual dishes.

This AU is called “They were five” because it starts with five members instead of four. Here Lisa Lederer joins the party along with Senshi.

This Tumblr consists of summaries of the manga and edited pages, in which I inserted my oc, as visuals. To enjoy this AU you should know the story. (Watch the anime on netflix it's amazing!)

Senshi wanted us to get some veggies in and suggested we collect some Mandrakes! I never tried those before. Marcille instantly chimed in, insisted we harvest them like described in her journals, but Senshi said we can simply cut their heads off before we harvest them... I... that's so smart actually... Marcille didn't like that idea though... She must've wandered off while we were harvesting.

As we made our way further down Marcille was having a hard time keeping up... I was a little worried about her...

Laios suggested we take a break after Marcille fell. That looked like it hurt. Marcille insisted we keep going and I was about to speak up when Chilchuck did... he was right... but he could've said it a little nicer...

We ended up taking a little break as we discussed our next route. Chilchuck suggested we take a secret route, but Senshi mentioned we wouldn't find any monsters to eat then, so we advanced normally.

As we continued further into the dungeon I talked to Laios a bit more about basilisks. We agreed their chicks must look adorable, which led to Marcille scolding both of us for even thinking about hatching an egg... how did she know...

The other party got hit pretty bad... some of their members were killed and one wounded badly and even poisoned by the basilisk! Luckily Senshi had some antidote... which... took some convincing to cook before we could feed it to him.... it was so good...

We gave them some advice on traversing the dungeon and... eating healthy (Senshi is a good egg) and went on our way... delving deeper... into the dungeon.

We spent a while looking for Basilisks eggs, and eventually found the creature attacking another party!

Laios was actually rather impressive, drawing it's attention, which lead to Senshi and him slaying it.

The next morning Marcille woke up from a nightmare. And we noticed a nearby party roasting some meat. For breakfast we had some leftover from yesterday's meal, man eating plant fruits and such. As Marcille stated she was jealous of the other party having meat, Senshi explained that it's because our bodies are craving fat. And that we need a more balanced diet. So today we decided to look for... that?

It was my first actual journey with them, and while they were fighting about eating monsters a lot, I thought the meal was quite nice! This party seems to get along really well!

A while later (while collecting the earlier mentioned fruit) Marcille tried to to go the quick route by using magic, but when Senshi stopped her she got caught by one! To my surprise Laios acted quick and got her out... He did upset Marcille with a weird comment about being jelous she got entangled by their vines tho...

We had another nice meal together before we settled for the night!

... We also found a corpse earlier and strung him up so the plants wouldn't absorb him... and so others would see him. it... it was a bit bizzare tho'

Unlike the first underground floor, the village graveyard. Abnormal sights become common once you delve down the dungeon.

After discussing what to eat and where to take shelter tonight we gathered some fruit from man-eating plants we encountered earleir while discussing the ethics of eating plants that would eat people, but the others could convince Marcille that it's unlikely they actually devoured anyone recently as a lot of adventurers make a living by recovering and reviving corpses on this floor.

After they took care of the slime situation they invited Lisa to join them for the scorpion hot pot, so she did. It was a little weird at first, but scorpions are basically an animal, right? ... okay, yes the walking-mushroom and slime where monsters, but they were surprisingly tasty!

After a short introduction, Laios explained why his party is returning to the dungeon. Senshi asks to join them, and since Lisa just finished her last job (and got ditched by her previous party) she asked if she could help out as well.

After Laios' party decided to return to the dungeon and survive on food with things they find there they run into Senshi, who notices them trying to cook a scorpion, he doesn't approve of their recipe and decides to help. While Marcille is still against all this they run into a little problem when Lisa enters the scene!
