Should she be doing this? Letting him in like this? She isn’t really sure, after everything. It isn’t like she hasn’t ended relationships before – but this was different. Things were different, with him, she’s found. It was less … well-defined than she was used to. ( Whether that’s a good or bad thing, she isn’t sure ; maybe that’s why she decided to call it quits. ) But that should not be her focus right now ; at least she doesn’t want it to be. ( Seeing him is … awkward. But nice. In a weird way. ) So she shakes her head at ‘ as long as you don’t mind ’ – “ No, of course not ” – and steps aside to let him in.
Elena would embarrassed by the mess of her studio apartment, but she knows Nate’s seen it worse before. She grabs a jacket and a tote bag off of a chair as she walks by so he can sit if he likes, quickly going to hang them both by the door. She answers, “ Um … Good! ” to his question, nodding a little bit. “ It’s good. We are … actually going to Scotland soon. ” She smiles and shrugs her shoulders at him as she walks to the tiny kitchen. “ ‘ Mysteries of the Highland Castles ’ . ”
Just like she said, there’s a hot pot of coffee. She’s already poured half of it into a mug for herself ( and was about to pour the rest of it too when he knocked ) but she reaches into the cupboard to take down another coffee mug and pour the rest for him. “ And by ‘ we ’ I mean I have a real camera crew this time around. ” She walks over and hands the mug off to him. It’s hard for her to hide the excitement she’s feeling. She thought the show would be dead in the water after El Dorado – so thank god for second chances. ( But, she won’t lie, she’s been … looking at different career avenues … ) “ I’m actually packing right now. That’s why things look so – ” She gestures around the apartment vaguely and laughs a bit, “ – Insane. Sorry. ” She picks up her mug, but refrains from taking a drink – still too hot. She leans against her kitchen counter and bites her lower lip for a moment before speaking up, “ So if you aren’t hunting down empty coffins of long-lost explorers, how are you filling your time? ”

how are you filling your time? well now that really was quite the question, wasn’t it? fingers tap amongst mug’s surface, and smile falters as brows come to furrow; a hand coming up to rub sheepishly at the back of his neck. ❝ uhh .. well, you know. the whole el dorado, cursed statue and zombies thing is gonna be pretty hard to top in terms of excitement— so i’ve just been picking up the occasional odd job here and there. ❞ anything to make a quick buck, right? ❝ been helping sully out with a few jobs of his own in my spare time, too. nothing too over the top. ❞ truth be told, though, was HE COULDN’T WAIT to get back into the grind of things ( to get back on track to finding the next LOST CITY, or perhaps another treasure lost to time ).
