𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒  𝐈𝐒  𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐘  𝐀  𝐃𝐔𝐌𝐁  𝐀𝐒𝐒  𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐄.     actually,  ‘ probably ’  is  a  bit  too  𝙂𝙀𝙉𝙀𝙍𝙊𝙐𝙎 ,  all  things  considered.  it  is  by  far  one  of  the  stupidest  things  that  he’s  done,  and  𝙱𝙾𝚈, 𝙾𝙷 𝙱𝙾𝚈,  is  that  truly  saying  something.  it’s  pretty  bad  that  the  name  oliver  ackerman  still  registers  in  his  brain  at  all  when  it’s  been  a  well  over  a  year  now.  so  many  other  names  DO  NOT  ,  even  some  who  probably  should   —   but  rome  wasn’t  built  in  a  day,  and  he’s  doing  what  he  can  where  he  can  to  be  BETTER.  he’d  seen  her  in  the  window  of  the  diner,  made  sense  of  why  her  face  was  FAMILIAR  behind  the  glass  besides  that  isolated  incident  in  which  she’d  copped  a  bag  before  she’d  become  a  problem.  there  was  no  way  to  just  let  that  nagging  feeling  of  guilt  slide  after  that,  and  so  is  the  story  of  why  he  is  𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄,  standing  on  her  doorstep,  inked  knuckles  rapping  out  a  knock.

it’s  not  too  late  to  𝗥𝗨𝗡,  never  too  late  to  run,  the  less morally  centered  portion  of  his  brain  insists  when  the  door  doesn’t  open  at  once,  but  he  forces  sneaker  clad  feet  to  stay  GLUED  to  the  spot,  refusing  to  indulge  that  cowardice.  it  isn’t  arrogant  to  assume  there  will  be  no  legal  ramifications  for  his  borderline  religious  need  to  confess  (  half  the  cops  in  the  city  are  in  his  father’s  pocket, anyways, and  the  other  half  probably  like  their  jobs,  too. . . )   but  that  isn’t  why  he’s  here,  really.  he  knows  it’s  not  any  meaningful  kind  of  JUSTICE,  but  he  needs  to  do  this  all  the  same.      he  has  his  𝚁𝙴𝙰𝚂𝙾𝙽𝚂.
