December Call for Submissions
We are officially accepting submissions for the December issue of The Rising Phoenix Review! The Rising Phoenix Review is a monthly ezine dedicated to modern social commentary and social activism. Our mission is to build a sacred space for poets to share their voices. Our goal is to publish writing that actively engages some of the most challenging issues of our time. We believe the creation of socially conscious art builds communities, and allows us to reconcile the errors of our world. We ask every writer who is willing to join our quest. Are you interested in celebrating, discussing, and expanding the understanding of gender and gender identity? Are you an artist/writer/poet/lyricist/etc? Have you always wanted to contribute to an art zine?
SAM is a zine dedicated to the discussion and celebration of gender and identity as well as creativity. Through a magazine medium, SAM hopes to help transform the way gender is seen in the world today and help express thoughts and feelings.
SAM is looking for any art that can be put into magazine format!

Book Smugglers Opens Submissions for Spec Fiction Stories on âSuperheroesâ - Pays up to $500/story
Book review blog Book Smugglers (est. 2008) has issued an open call for submissions to find the best original speculative fiction short stories based on the theme of âSuperheroes.â Founders and publishers Thea James and Ana Grilo plan to publish a minimum of three stories, connected to the main theme, between June and August 2016. Original artwork by a commissioned illustrator will supplement each story.Â
The editors encourage diverse writers to submit, especially works from marginalized writers with traditionally underrepresented ideas.
