I think I finally have the words. I wish I could say that I enjoy BTS's new album, but the unfortunate truth is, I don't (keep reading, keep reading). I think the reason I'm not gravitating toward it is because it's not what I need right now. The past few years have been full of so much pain, so many tribulations, so much heartache that the music I truly need is raw, honest, emotion. Something that makes me feel the feelings I've buried so deeply in my chest that the song literally claws them out.

I need music that reminds me what it's like to feel something. What it is to be human.

I just listened to a song by another artist that felt like it ripped me open. I needed it. I still do. BTS's new music may not be for me right now in this phase of my life and that's okay. I'm a little sad, a little disappointed because I think a part of me expected it to be a safe place for me again. To get swept up in it all again. But...I didn't. It isn't. And that's okay.

I think that's all I'm really going to say about the album and this current era for the guys. I'm dabbling in reading fanfic again and writing here and there, but that's more in line with the reason I'm listening to music right now -- to feel.

I'm still half-blind and losing more eyesight little by little. No one knows why. It is what it is at this point. But I'm alive. And that's a blessing, even if this current climate doesn't make it feel like it is.

i remember answering a lot of asks back when the festa dinner happened in 2022 and again after the announcement came out a few months later that bts would be enlisting—trying to look at the bright side of things, offer a comforting perspective to those who were sad about not seeing bts together for a while, confiding in me their thoughts and emotions. i remember saying how fun it would be to watch the members explore solo music (and it was!) and that however long this took, it would be really fulfilling and rewarding when we eventually see them back together again. i said the time would fly by and we'd be okay. i only ever wanted to move through the hiatus optimistically. so it's really starting to hit me that we're here and i'm still here anticipating this very moment with all of you and we're literally seeing it unfold one day at a time. we're gonna have new bts music and performances soon, yes, but the aspect of having these guys back together as a performing unit after four years feels like unlike anything else in terms of excitement and pure joy. even though they've come to us on their off time while working on this, individually or together, it's been such a testing period for bts and the fandom. the patience and grace we've all needed to give each other. the TRUST. and now they're ready and so are we and we made actually it??? no fucking way
