Today was a productive day off, tackling a few wee jobs including transplanting #Ribwort #Plantain | Slánlus | Plantago lanceolata seedlings that have been popping up in the gravel of our rental house into key spots in our burgeoning #forestgarden. #RibwortPlantain is an incredible multifunctional and #Perennial herb and a #permaculture powerhouse! It's antibacterial, an astringent, an expectorant, a laxative (in larger quantities) it is also "a safe and effective treatment for bleeding; quickly staunches blood flow and encourages the repair of damaged tissue". It's younger leaves are edible, it's a source of natural dyes, it's a fabulous feed for livestock and domestic animals. It can be used as a tea, it's a #PioneerSpecies and of course it's adored by #Pollinators and is a great bolster for #biodiversity. 9 years ago I bought this beautiful #Monstera when I still lived in #Brighton - when I bought him he was a little over 30cm and in a teeny-weeny plastic pot. He now lives here with us, since we moved back to Donegal and after his recent repotting, he stands just shy of 2m!
