Aaliyah
The fact that Aaliyah’s name is still relevant today shows how important and influential she was. There will never be another Aaliyah Dana Haughton. Her smile, style, class, and grace continues to capture the hearts of those who love her. She was truly one in a million. It is impossible to compare her talent, because Aaliyah was in a lane of her own. She was a trailblazer who helped define 90′s R&B music. She was a trendsetter. From the famous hair swoop over her eye, to her impeccable fashion sense. She was absolutely beautiful, warm, and inviting. She had a way of making her fans feel like we really knew her, even though she kept most things private. People still adore babygirl till this day, because she was always an angel, even after her passing. There is no denying her impact on this world. Her spirit continues to rest in the numerous fans she left behind, and in those who love her.
That Dwayne and Whitley love 😍
Sometimes you’re 23 and standing in the kitchen of your house making breakfast and brewing coffee and listening to music that for some reason is really getting to your heart. You’re just standing there thinking about going to work and picking up your dry cleaning. And also more exciting things like books you’re reading and trips you plan on taking and relationships that are springing into existence. Or fading from your memory, which is far less exciting. And suddenly you just don’t feel at home in your skin or in your house and you just want home but “Mom’s” probably wouldn’t feel like home anymore either. There used to be the comfort of a number in your phone and ears that listened everyday and arms that were never for anyone else. But just to calm you down when you started feeling trapped in a five-minute period where nostalgia is too much and thoughts of this person you are feel foreign. When you realize that you’ll never be this young again but this is the first time you’ve ever been this old. When you can’t remember how you got from sixteen to here and all the same feel like sixteen is just as much of a stranger to you now. The song is over. The coffee’s done. You’re going to breathe in and out. You’re going to be fine in about five minutes.
Sylvia Townsend Warner, The Winter of the Air. (via wordsnquotes)
My blackness does not inhibit me from being beautiful and intelligent. In fact, it is the reason I am beautiful and intelligent. And you can't stop me.
Amandla Stenberg
Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness

i think it’s brave i think it’s brave that you get up in the morning even if your soul is weary and your bones ache for a rest i think it’s brave that you keep on living even if you don’t know how to anymore i think it’s brave that you push away the waves rolling in every day and you decide to fight i know there are days when you feel like giving up but i think it’s brave that you never do

People Are Art
Created by it, In a world painted with it, Surrounded by the dreams of imagination And the thrill of creation.
But we’re suffocated with judgement And trapped by disappointment. Unsure of our appearance, batting the confines of societies acceptance.
Trying to love ourselves for who we are In a world where standing out is standing alone And loving yourself is conceited
(Mine)
When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young.
Maya Angelou
The arts has the ability, the rare ability to unite and inspire every single one of us.
