Hiya, I love your mmni bingo so much! It's a fabulous excel employment and such a nerdom kingdom. Could you plz tell us a little more about your on-going projects? cause i'm super curious rn :)

:D Thankyou so much! It is an absolute cluster-fuck on the back end but thats what happens when you learned all the principals of computer science without actually learning how to code, it functions and that'll do for me

Okay so I think its fair to say I'm bad at sticking to one idea, I started copying out my mischief-related to-do list and realised it was becoming insane, so I've categorised (and truncated) it. You know, like a normal person.

Small projects:

1/ I'm always on the hunt for old/forgotten or niche mischief related stuff, Ive got quite the collection now ranging from actual entertainment to essentially random fun facts, but theres always a few things on my radar that I've yet to dig into. On the uh... public to-research list atm would be:

3/ I've never really been involved in the fanfic scene, think a combination of aroaceness™ and an information-oriented approach to fandom means it doesn't often appeal to me, but I am a sucker for a good fan theory. 5/ Most of Bingo is already done of course, so my chances of actually doing more to it are a lot higher. I'm probably looking at improving the difficulty functionality next, although I really have been meaning to see if I can get it working in google sheets...

6/Doing something with the mischief doctor who audios, idk exactly what yet but theres something between hohr and the clockwork Swan... We'll see, it'll probably never happen

Mischief Movie Night Bingo!! - Update

The same 5x5 bingo generator as before - now with more death:

All bingo options have now been merged into one sheet, this means that the sheet can be used to select any number of actors and mix and match options between them, there are a variety of other options relating to the host and era of the show, with some options pre-selected for a more streamlined process.

This update introduces a few new bingo squares, many of which relate to death. A general 'murder' square has been added, as well as specific squares for the most (and least) offending actors.

The sheet will generate a 5x5 Bingo square, with squares colour coded based on likelihood. The spreadsheet can tell you which actors appear in each episode, but if you'd rather dive straight in without specifying an episode you are free to do so.

Please Download 'MMNBingoBuilder' and open it in EXCEL

This will not work in google sheets or LibraOffice you can try out other options but im doubtful, I will probably get round to that at some point

Q. How do I play?

A. Its bingo, you know how to play bingo, but weve been treating it as a drinking game so do whatever

Q. How do I use the spreadsheet?

A. Follow the instructions in 'using the spreadsheet' in the 'instructions' sheet of the excel book, you may have to press the little arrow in the bottom left hand corner to see it. The basic gist is enter things into white boxes and you cant go too far wrong

Q. Can I play as multiple actors?

A. Sure! Just select which actors you want to play as (this can be all of them) and select whichever squares you like - if you specify an episode the sheet will tell you which actors appear in the episode, but it is not a necessary step

Q. How much do I need to know about mischief to play?

A. Nothing! It certainly helps to be able to recognise your actor/actors but the sheets contain pictures to help you with this and if you play as the host (Emmy/Oscar) you can tell from context anyway, prosaprognosia be damned

Q. How drunk could I get?

A. Look the simple answer is idk, I tried to give an idea with the 'difficulty' and 'fairness' ratings, but honestly theyre largely meaningless and based entirely off my very unreliable 'best guess'. Best I can say is that we got absolutely smashed when we kept a bingo card between games so... maybe dont do that.

Q. I've found a mistake/Where did you get the info

A. The first 3 seasons of episode info were provided by @personinthepalace, in this post, the rest was found just by skipping to the bows in each episode. If you find a mistake with listed cast for an episode you can message me @you-know-your-name or @ [email protected], if you find a mistake with an episode title, I dont really care sorry lol, you can message me anyway but its not really a priority

Q. How do I play without Excel?

A. Get a time machine? Idk I dont have that set up yet sorry, but as far as I know it should work on the free online version of excel just fine, though you might have issues with older builds of excel

Q. I Broke it! What do I do?

A. Usually a little control Z action should rescue things, but if its gone really badly you can redownload the sheet fresh from the link above. If you think you've found a bug you can message me @you-know-your-name or @ [email protected]

Q. I dont like how my bingo squares are organised, can I change them?

A. Yep, Its a little fiddly I'm afraid but you can change them around in 'seed'

Q. Can I still use the old bingo versions?

A. Yep, they're in the legacy folder, but I will not be updating them any further with new bingo squares or episodes

Q. Can I add my own bingo squares?

A. It'll require you to go into the back end a bit but feel free, theres very vague instructions on how to do it in 'Programming info' but you may have to use some ingenuity because I couldnt be arsed to go into to much detail. Please let me know what you added! I'd love to get community suggestions for the bingo squares

Q. How can I suggest a Bingo square?

A. you can message me @you-know-your-name or @ [email protected] , I might run a form at some point to get the submissions all in one place, but no promises

Q. Theres an episode not listed/I want to add an episode

A. The easiest thing to do is just enter the relevant actors and Oscar/Emmy, since entering an episode isn't required, but you could always go digging for secrets, or follow the vague instructions in the hidden sheet 'programminginstructions'

Q. When will X be fixed/updated

A. idk, im very busy but this frequently takes over as lead hyperfocus so it depends, fixes and things will probably happen in batches though

Q. This is somehow still not enough info for me

A. More info can be found under 'Random Info' in the 'instructions' section of each bingobook, have fun nerd

Mischief Movie Night In: Deaths

This is my death post. I counted all the deaths and murders in mmni and this is the result. I’ve put the top three number of deaths and numbers, then a table and graph with all the casts info. Hope this is clear. Thanks to @the-most-lamentable and @furball-for-a-head for helping with the graphs. Forgot to mention the first time I posted how I counted deaths. If someone faked their death or it’s revealed they didn’t actually die, it doesn’t count. If someone get resurrected, it counts. And specifically in flat pack attack, I counted people getting crushed then spat out as dying.

Top three murders:

MMNI Christmas Murders + Deaths

I remembered that this post existed today and so decided to count up the significantly less number of murders and deaths from this much shorter run. This run had some weird deaths, including shrinking and smashing, toy lightsaber, pig, drowning in a cruise ship (which I gave to Shields because he started it), and toy lightsaber attached to hot wheels car. Followed the same rules as above so the Bread Constable and the deaths in All I want for Christmas is Zoo that were prevented (that is different to me than resurrection and we never see the deaths or the bodies). I'm also not counting Lad's murder of Mrs. Cooksman's husband as it's he's never actually a character and it's just a past action that is referred to.

It's December and you know what that means! More deaths and murder in MMNI. This had a couple of interesting deaths that I wasn't sure whether to count or not. Specifically whether they kind of killed Timmy again in Ghouls Aloud. Like he was killed first off screen before the film (which doesn't count) but he appeared to be turned into a ghost or something later on and I think that counts as another Nancy death. It was a communal effort thing but I'm giving the credit to Henry Lewis I think cause he started it. None of the ghosts made off screen count. There were a lot of Bournville identity murders in the fact that it was a classic everyone dies ending. And then the reveals that people have faked their death are also not counted once again.

*For Laura, Matt & Jono, their appearances are too low to make reasonable M:D Ratio, Murder Rate, Death Rate or Lives Lost per Appearance. Thus, their stats are not counted in.

Fun facts:

Dave tops the charts in Murders, M:D Ratio and Murder Rate. He's really bloodthirsty, thus do beware of that if you're going to improvise with him.

Hen follows behind, with a high Murder Rate of 50%. This murderous man kills once every two shows.

Harry, on the other hand, is the biggest victim and everyone's punchbag. He leads in Deaths, D:M Ratio and Death Rate. Kill his character if you need, or just for fun :)

Matt's characters die most often (if counting him in), as his Death Rate is 125% even though he was only in 4 MNMIs.

Rhyanna is the only one to appear in the third quadrant, which means she has the least motivation to get involved in killing scenes. And her stats of Lives Lost per Appearance is also the lowest, being 0.33! Congrats, finally there's someone sane in this gang.

Dave, somewhat creates 1.33 lost lives everytime he appears. For him, a show is not complete without some murders & deaths.

Shields, Lauren and Sue have all got the same M:D Ratio of 100%, perfectly balanced. They've got the very same taste in how to treat their characters.

Charlie, Nancy and Niall form another cluster of dots, with M:D Ratio from 107% to 114%. It seems like they enjoy slightly more murders than deaths.

Overall speaking, most of the actors' characters die more if they kill more (and vice versa), except the four big victims: Harry, Mike, Josh and Ellie.

Mischief Movie Night at the Edinburgh Fringe!

Mischief is back at the Ed Fringe today with 3 shows: Charlie Aims to Please, The Mind Mangler, and Mischief Movie Night!

For today's MMN show, it was a dance-off movie set on a desert island called Desert Island Disco. It featured Harry Kershaw as a pole for Henry Lewis to pole dance on (make of that as you will haha)

I’m having a really hard time articulating which is frustrating but phm felt SO queer to me. And i don’t mean queer like “lol gay alien” i mean queer in the very nature of the story. Queer as in i think a lot of us can relate to at least some point in grace’s story and queer as in love that goes so strongly beyond words we use to label it. I’ve seen a few people have an aroace read on grace and i can totally see that but most of what i see in him is just. Queer. In a way that’s hard if not impossible to label but is there. I see it in his story, his relationships, how people view him, how the world treats him, and then how the UNIVERSE treats him. Being rejected by a world you love because you have no living family or partner and therefore you’re “expendable.” Finding community afterwards with people who care for you the way you deserve. Love with someone in a way that is definitely not romantic but is so, so much more than a friendship. I see it in his gender identity too, though that’s more vibes i just inherently see him as nonbinary in some way i cannot think of him as a cis man. I think grace is a very easy character to see yourself in as a queer person no matter what kind of queer you are. I don’t know if any kind of queer read on him was intentional but it’s beautiful to me

This!! I was thinking about this too but forgot to add. Like it was a long movie i don’t remember and i haven’t read the book yet but i do not recall him being called by his first name once. And i understand a lot of the time we’re seeing him in a professional setting but even when addressing other people by their first names, even with Rocky, he’s still just Grace. And yeah i understand some people just prefer their last names maybe he’s just more comfortable being called that being a teacher and all but idk it felt very queer coded to me

My November - December mini project! I finished them at the beginning of December but got lazy compiling the statistics. All the texts are proper text and not just lorem ipsun! 😅 (I spent quite long formatting some of them and it's a shame that they can't be seen properly, oh well.)
