Annie fosters kitten when she knows she has the time to focus on them (between plays or during if she has a very minor role), usually just one at a time to get them a little more used to people before they can get adopted. This leads to some very sweet moments with the rest of the drama society.
- Max immediately wants to play and kittens generally respond well to him and like the toys but he never quite learns that picking them up without warning never goes down well. He smiles in spite of the scratches but boy do they sting.
- Dennis playing with kittens is just Dennis mirroring what the kitten does. They are needing at the cushions?? So is he! It’s part of generally his love of replicating animals and also because he isn’t a fan of snuggling with them or anything so this is a good way for him to bond with them without touching my them.
- Chris pretends not to care about whether the cat likes him but it’s a lie. If a kitten hisses at him he takes it personally and if they fall asleep in his arms he will just stare at them in the most caring parental fashion and have some tears in his eyes. He is very much a cat person and also lacked affection in childhood so it checks out and Annie lets them have their moments when he comes over to help.
- Robert is one of those people who likes to explain what the cat is doing as though he is some cross between Freud and Attenborough. Like he thinks he Gets them but the second they do something downright stupid he will be like ‘come on, mr whiskers, you’re better than this!’ Because he has convinced himself they have a rich interest in world.
- Trevor truly does not care about a cats affection. So when he’s over he’s just sat on the sofa on his phone and strangely enough that makes kitten reallly curious about him. Usually by the end of his time at Annie’s one would have jumped up next to him and started playing with the chain of his jeans and he starts to pet them a little. And yes if he is over with Chris and this happens with a cat that hissed at him, Trevor will get cocky and call himself tje cat whisperer and Chris is highly offended.
- Vanessa is mildly allergic to cats but she really tries not to be. She is the first to ask about their health and volunteer to feed them. The routine of taking care of something like a pet or a plant really soothes her even as her nose is running and she is struggling to see past the tears.
- Jonathan is not perceived as a person by cats but rather as a climbing frame. This means that he does get a far amount of kitten play time but also the most scratches because the kittens will claw up him wuth reckless abandon.
- Sandra doesnt understand the concept of fostering being impermanent and even if she does she sees that as no excuse not to pamper tje kittens while Annie has them. She has blight tjem new toys, new climbing frames and is getting custom little outfits for tjem made as we speak.
- Lucy in the presence of a cat will just observe them really giddily from the side. This usually works out well if she is there with her uncle because they end up watching the cats together like some day time television show with him narrating and her as his audience.
- And of course Annie is the best kitty mama to ever walk the earth. She is the right amount of practical and caring for a kitten but has a good enough sense of self worth not to be offended by the more tumultuous ones. Her only down fall is her heart, it does break a little every time she has to give tjem back even if she tries to hide it and she makes sure to get a picture with every cat she fosters and has an extensive scrapbook of them, filled with pictures of their time with her and the others.
Dude I went down a rabbit hole of watching cat videos and this is the result. I might actually have to write some fluffy fic about this but please do enjoy these rough ideas for now :))) God I love putting these guys in mundane situations!
