The moment in the obsessed!r fic where Nikki noticed, that they stopped sleeping, made me think about how Nikki would try to get this needy mess of a person to get atleast some sleep. Like promising R that they get to sleep on her lap/chest/etc and Nikki constantly having to stroke their hair or reaffirm that she's still there
nikki knew you hadn’t been sleeping well. she could see it in your eyes, the way you held yourself, the way your hands shook whenever they reached out to touch her.
she didn’t know exactly how much sleep a person could go without, but she knew you didn’t have much time left before you probably started getting some sort of psychological problem.
which is why she was currently trying to coax you into bed.
“just lay down for a minute. please, baby.”
“i’m not tired,” you whined out, though you climbed onto her bed anyways. “i don’t want to sleep. what if i sleep and you’re gone? are you gonna leave me?”
“no, i’m not going to leave you,” she murmured to you, crawling up beside you and sitting with her back resting against her bedframe, “but you haven’t been sleeping, and that’s dangerous. c’mere, lay down on me.”
you stared at her a second, reluctant, until nikki placed a hand on the back of your head and began to guide it down to her lap.
“i don’t want to sleep,” you mumbled, eyes closing against your own free will. whether you wanted to sleep or not, your brain and your body craved the rest.
“it’s okay,” nikki said, her hand beginning to rub slow, gentle, relaxing circles along your back. “i’m not going anywhere, okay?”
“don’t want you to go anywhere,” you mumbled again, head nuzzling slowly against her thigh. you let out a low, slightly weak grumble of what might’ve been refusal.
“i promise, im not,” she comforted. finally, then, is when she felt your body loosen against her. no longer tense, alert, but giving into what nikki assumed must’ve been pure exhaustion.
her hand continued to stroke your back, along your spine, even though you were fast asleep now. you looked peaceful, now. beautiful, even. calm and relaxed, in a way nikki hadn’t seen in so long.
this is what she’d wanted. to be with you, to hold you, to take care of you. she couldn’t ask for anything better.
