Hi! I asked you a while back for help choosing between the t3i and 60d and you suggested the t3i body, but with a better lens. Which lens/lenses would you suggest? (Sorry for all the questions!)

If you are looking to do more creative photography and you want to save money, check out the Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. It's great for portraits and images with shallow depth of field and it's only around $100!

With the crop sensor on the t3i or the 60D, the 50mm lens will appear a bit more magnified or "zoomed in" than you may be used to so you have to move further back or get creative in tight spaces. (It is a fixed lens, meaning it doesn't zoom in or out, so you have to position yourself and the subject before you snap the shot.)

My suggestion would be to start with that lens, learn the ins and outs, and figure out what you like and don't like. Once you do that, you can make a more educated and experienced decision on a fancy new lens yourself!
