at first i thought mitch and kathy were going to hook up, like athletic boys and bratty teenage girls always do at the end of movies. but then he said this and the whole theatre screamed and EVERYTHING MADE SENSE AND IT WAS SO GREAT

What I like about this the best is that they LITERALLY WAITED UNTIL THE VERY LAST SECOND TO REVEAL IT. Basically forcing you to form your opinion of him based on his personality and characteristics, instead of his sexuality.

The Bible and homosexuality

I hate when people quote bible scriptures to put down same-sex marriage. I’ve spoken on this before, but it still grinds my gears. The Bible is full of so many laws and rules that people overlook. They pull passages that shows “evidence” that same-sex marriage was frowned upon. EVERYTHING was frowned upon in the Bible. Again, here are a few examples:

Leviticus 19:28-“Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord.”

Galatians 5:22- “Envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

1 Corinthians 14:34-35-“Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.”

Leviticus 10-11 states-And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:  They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcasses in abomination.

Exodus 35:2-“For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of Sabbath rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death.”

Deuteronomy 22:13-14,20-21-“If any man takes a wife, and goes in to her, and detests her, and charges her with shameful conduct, and brings a bad name on her, and says, ‘I took this woman, and when I came to her I found she was not a virgin,’ … and evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones”

Leviticus 20:9-“Anyone who dishonors father or mother must be put to death. Such a person is guilty of a capital offense.”

1 Timothy 2:11-12-“A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” 

 Leviticus 19:28 -“Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord.”

Deuteronomy 14:8-“And the pig, because it parts the hoof but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.”

Numbers 6:5-“All the days of his vow of separation, no razor shall touch his head. Until the time is completed for which he separates himself to the Lord, he shall be holy. He shall let the locks of hair of his head grow long.”

The list is so long and unbelievable, so before you quote Leviticus 18:22 “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin,” make sure you have your life together.

Because he was GAY ….

So why have you never heard about Bayard Rustin in history class? 

Bayard Rustin was an activist, teacher and administrator who played a key role in the Civil Rights movement — he acted as a secretary to Dr Martin Luther King, helped organise the Freedom Rides and bus integration protests, and was the key organiser for the 1963 March on Washington, at which King gave his ‘I Have A Dream’ speech. 

Because Bayard Rustin was gay. 

In 1953, he was arrested in Pasadena, California for having consensual sex in a parked car with two male partners. He was initially charged with vagrancy and lewd conduct: the charges were later altered to a lesser count of ‘sex perversion’, to which he pleaded guilty. After his conviction, he was asked to leave the Fellowship of Reconciliation, the pacifist Civil Rights organisation that he worked for, and was later shunned or encouraged to take a behind-the-scenes role by many members of the movement (it’s important to remember that this may not have been completely due to the homophobia of the other civil rights leaders — they were acting under  the fear of being smeared or blackmailed by right-wing opposition). Nevertheless, he managed to live through this stigma, and spent the rest of his life working for both African-American and gay civil rights.

In honor of Transgender Awareness Week, our youth health center, The Borum, is highlighting some of the challenges faced by trans and gender nonconforming youth.

Though we still need more research to better reflect the diversity of trans youth’s experiences, what we know now clearly points to a need to do more to care for and empower them.

"Jail the Gays Bill"

If the "Jail the Gays Bill" passes in Nigeria all out lesbians, gays and allies can face time in jail. People are calling on Nigeria's president Goodluck Jonathan to veto the bill should it pass its final reading in the Assembly this month. The bill would make it a crime for gays to get married, to witness a gay marriage, or for churches to perform a gay wedding. Gays and lesbians who marry will face 14 years in prison. Any public display of affection i.e. holding hands or even looking at each other affectionately could result in 10 years in jail. Allies who organizes or becomes a member of a "gay club" or supports a gay organization financially could also face jail time.

10 Kids Two Dads

A gay white couple adopted 10 Black children.

Huffington Post asked how do they deal with anti-gay sentiments to their children.

"Well, I have mouth on me, which doesn't help matters. When we got our first child, we were living in a suburb of Detroit and I would bring him with me to the mall. At first it would bother me that people would stare at us. I mean, here I am this white man with a black baby. I didn't want the stares to affect him. As he got older, he would see these people staring. I had enough of it and I didn't want him to feel any different for being in our family. So I started to teach him how to raise his middle finger. You'd get these little old ladies at the mall shopping and gawking at us, and I'd teach him to give them the finger. You'd never see an old lady turn faster when a baby gives them the finger. It became our joke, but we had to stop him from doing it when he got around six.

All of my kids are very quick to respond if kids try to say something and it shuts them up. They're pretty good about putting other kids in their place. They are very proud of their family -- just like we are.

There aren't many issues, now. The way we've brought them up has taught them how to come across to the outside world. And these days they have friends with two moms and stuff. The school has been great too."

I came out to my little brother

I’ve been trying to do this for forever, but I didn’t know how to. I also didn’t know if my parents would approve of me telling him, but I didn’t care. I sat him down and used someone he knew for an example…Ellen Degeneres. I told him that she had a wife and he was a little confused. I explained to him what “gay” means. I asked him what if I told him I was like Ellen. He shrugged. I always tell him that I’m never going to be in a relationship with a male, but he never explored more options. I told him I was in a relationship and he gasped and asked “WITH WHO!?!?” I told him to guess, he guessed correctly and laughed. I asked him does this change anything, he said no. He told me “You know I’m a person who doesn’t judge. I don’t care.” We hugged, I cried and he told me he loved me. Minutes later he asked me could he ask me a question. I said sure. He asked me has milk ever come out of my nose because milk came out of his today.
