Everyone Should Watch Nashville!

I've been rewatching the Nashville series on Prime, and I have to say, this is actually quality music TV drama. I don't want to get into too much about the series, but I do think every artist should watch it.

Here are 6 things I've learned as an artist from rewatching this series.

1. EVERYONE HAS ISSUES.

In the series, obviously for TV purposes, everything is dramatized. But whether you have money or not, you're still going to have issues. How you deal with them matters. Whether you take it out on everyone else like Juliette or write poems like Scarlett, you're going to face challenges. It's what you do with them that counts.

2. YOU CAN BE FRIENDS WITH YOUR EX.

Obviously, not everyone can, but look at Scarlett, Gunnar, and Avery. They had the cutest little trio going. It didn't pan out the way Gunnar hoped, but what always came first for them was the music. So if your ex is a fire producer... maybe make it work. 😂

(Do not take my recommendations, though. Results may vary.)

3. SOME PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY CRAZY. DON'T TRUST EVERYONE.

This one I already knew, but I'm sorry... Layla was seriously mentally unwell, or she was just willing to make some really bad decisions, even when things were finally going okay for her. Mind you, her man did die, so I get she was grieving. But revenge will absolutely drive you mad if you're not in a good place mentally.

4. DON'T BE TEDDY.

There's really no explanation here.

Just keep it in your pants, fam. 😂

5. REAL FRIENDS ARE LIKE FAMILY.

You see this throughout the whole show, especially with Juliette. Hollllly... that girl was lucky every single day to have the people around her. No matter how much she pushed them away, they kept showing up for her. Those kinds of friends are rare.

6. LIFE IS SHORT. ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN.

Making enemies along the way might work for you for a little while, but we're all going to die one day. Be kind, enjoy life, chase what you love, and live it to the fullest. There are so many examples in every season of why that's important.

Well, I hope you learned something... and I guess go watch the show if you like drama. 😂

Like A Virgin

I didn't even know there was a Virgin Hotel by my hotel, and y'all... it's so nice.

I'm sitting here thinking about this trip and my capacity for moving alone on this music journey. This was the trip that really showed me my limits, my capacity, and how much I need a team.

Also, when I'm nervous, I've noticed I hold the mic like a goblin. 😂

Anyways, I got here on my own merit, and I met a few people—not as many as I wanted to—but that's due to me getting a little sick on the journey and honestly just reaching my capacity for interaction. That's probably where a team will come into play.

But I'm learning, growing, and figuring out what I need, who I need, and what I'm capable of doing on my own.

I also had the chance to visit the National Museum of African American Music. What a journey. I wish I could've gotten a proper tour where someone walks you through everything, but it was still super cool. I walked around with a homie I met at the conference, and we took so many photos and videos.

I think I might turn everything into a mini digital zine.

Here's a clip from the dance room, which is actually ridiculous. Some of these dances had me like, "Who is doing this step to this song?" 😂😂

Look at this 7-second video. What is this?!?! LMAO.

They definitely need to fix this one before I come back 😂, but other than that, the staff was super cool.

Anyways, it's almost time to head back home, but first I wanna find a park and enjoy a little more of the city.

Horrible

Yes, I am horrible at consistently writing on here. I get so sidetracked and I'm always on the go, not realizing some people actually read this to keep up with me. So apologies! Hopefully with the new system I've implemented for myself, you'll be reading a lot more...

Today I want to talk about friendship... kinda.

Last night, my friends showed up to support me at my first time performing at Sankofa Square in Toronto. It was really cool, and I had a great time. As I finished my set, I realized my DJ is my homegirl that I've known for almost 10 years. I had another friend in the crowd I've known for about the same amount of time, and then my other two friends I've known for almost 20 years.

TIME FREAKIN' FLIESSSSSSSSSS!!!

It's so crazy.

Plus, I just had a birthday the other day and turned "55" lol. CRAZZZZY!!

But honestly, it's such a blessing having long-lasting friendships because they keep it real.

A lot of people I know change friend groups all the time, but I think I've always had the kind of friends where I can call and be like, "Yo, I'm going out, so-and-so is coming, let's roll," or we can just hang out individually. It's never really been complicated.

I've probably talked about this before, but one of my homeboys was like, "You need more girl friends." I'm like, "Nahhhh, too much drama." But honestly, men are just as dramatic—maybe even more! Holy. Simple conversations can turn into whole situations.

Not everyone needs to be homies, but to be honest, I'm usually just in the corner watching things unfold. People say not picking a side is picking a side, but I can't even see the sides because I'm over here on my side of the road, focused on my lane. 😂

Imagine sitting on a fence and being told you gotta hop over.

One side has jerk chicken. The other side has tacos.

But if you stay sitting on the fence long enough, someone brings you the best Ital dish you've ever had.

Imma get that Ital dish, fam. I like the fence. 😂

And sometimes you'll miss out on the tacos or the jerk chicken, or maybe even both. But real friends would bring you a little bit of each anyway and keep it pushing because they know you ain't about that life.

And with that being said...

What’s So Funny?

There’s a lot to laugh about. Spring is only seven days in, and around the world we’re already witnessing climate change in real time—it’s been extremely bipolar weather.

This weekend is the JUNOS. I volunteered two times when it was in Calgary, and then in 2025 I went to a bunch of events while it was happening in Vancouver, which was amazing. I even made a funny video of myself giving a speech for winning one (I’m calling it now—2027–2028 🤞🏽). At the very least, being part of a winning project feels within reach. Either way, I get excited for any award show—mainly for the performances.

I caught some clips from the MOBOs last night, and I definitely want to attend one day. Honestly, winning a MOBO is a bigger dream for me than a JUNO. The grime set was so cool—I just wish they had Kano and a few others, and that it was a bit longer. Still, they chose the right people. And I loved seeing Nolay on stage—we need more gyal, more, more. Tiwa Savage’s set was really dope too.

Now, let’s talk about me and where I’m at with Whyte Tee. I originally wanted to release the whole project by summer, but it’s feeling more like a fall vibe now. I do have three singles almost ready to go, though. After sitting down and talking things through with different people, I’m not rushing anything. This process is actually helping me structure how I approach future projects within a timeline.

I’m so used to recording, dropping, and performing all within a month—but this has been two years of selecting beats, writing and rewriting, mixing, making demos, scrapping ideas, and rearranging. And I can finally say—it’s only up from here.

First single is called Visions. Stay tuned… more details coming soon. =)

What inspires you to create even when no one is watching ?

It’s simple. The fact that I’m not where I want to be and the fact I’m not where I need to be.

Let’s talk about the why?

Why am I here? Why am I doing music? Why was I the chosen sperm to link up with the egg? Why do I choose hip hop to express myself when I could kill it over a Jersey or house beat? Why did I shave my head? Why am I dressed “like a boy”? Why do I continue to lose sleep working two jobs — or three, depending on how you look at it? Why does it take me forever to check emails? Why is it taking so long to release music? Why do I have to dress tacky af with a bad wig to appeal to the masses? Why do some people’s breath smell like death? Did they not hear what I said in Likkle Honey? Why do I have so many ideas but so little money? Why am I constantly asking myself why?

I know why people become monks. No lie, it sounds like such a peaceful life to walk into. Who knows, though — it may be just the same.

How I look at all these questions is like looking at a 1,000-piece puzzle. You need to fit the pieces together, and maybe one fell in the couch, or maybe it was never in the box. Either way, you need to find it to complete the puzzle, right? And maybe instead of asking why, you should be asking when.

There’s so much to question nowadays. That’s why sometimes it’s best to just focus on the questions you have for yourself.

So let’s start with the basics !

To fully understand who I am through the paths I choose to share — whether that be music, fashion, or these random Tumblr posts — getting my ideas out is a must. Not gonna lie, I miss dropping a track every Friday. I might have to figure out a way to do that again.

What does a “Whyte Tee” moment look like in real life?

I believe we’re living in a Whyte Tee era right now. So many people have had to start over because of COVID, the economy, or shifts in the job market, and for me, that’s what a Whyte Tee moment represents — going back to the basics and remembering where you started. That’s why I chose to approach this project through hip-hop and R&B, because I was deeply influenced by both. I grew up on reggae and dancehall as a first-generation Canadian — those sounds are embedded in me — but hip-hop felt like something that was mine, something I could escape into and connect to on my own terms. Artists like Tony Touch and Kris Kross were part of that early energy for me; they made hip-hop feel fun, expressive, youthful, and powerful. Before all the subgenres and outside influences, before everything started blending together, it was hip-hop that made me want to do music, and R&B shaped how I express it. I was raised in a music-loving household where something was always playing, and artists like Brandy, Monica, and Destiny’s Child showed me what it looked like for young women to take up space — that inspired me deeply. So this entire project — the idea, the branding, the rebuilding — is my Whyte Tee moment. After taking a year off to really figure out what I want for myself and my career, I’m starting fresh. It’s hard, and doing it alone is hard(I do have a some help sometimes) , but this is where I’m starting today.

Whyte Tee Season - Who am I without the costume?

So who am I without the costume?

I’m a Black, Caribbean-Canadian girl whose introduction to music was Tony Touch and Kriss Kross. I never liked playing with dolls. I raced my mom’s car like I was training to be the next track star for Canada — but really, inside, I was doing it for Jamaica. Boop boop.

I’m a mom — confused most of the time, but still figuring it out. I’m an artist. I’ve always been an artist, and I will forever create what I don’t see — which is me.

I’m a child of the Man above. I show love to everyone, even when they don’t show it back.

I’m Low — not because I’m small or short, but because from birth they called me mad, crazy, la loca. Never afraid to take risks.

But somewhere along the way, I lost my connection to it all. Just like I kind of lost my way answering this question.

So… who am I now?

I guess we’ll find out.

Que Lo Que Mi Gente

It’s been a minute but I’m back. So much To say but even more to do.

Ive really been sitting back and observing lately focusing on levelling up and surrounding myself with the folks I need to complete things. But thanks to everyone listing to Trust because honestly I trust not one soul lol but such is life.

Now that im back in isolation mode I’ve realized a few things. I can count on one hand who’s checking in beyond surface level , I can see who’s actually leveling up. I can see what’s lacking and what I need to do and being in the mix allows you to see people for what they are. That’s not your friend that’s your acquaintance.

Watching this reel today and home girl said “be careful I’m in therapy I might just start being okay with taking up space” hahaha that’s truely how I feel right now because I’m ready to start doing things again but I don’t want to burn out so I’m chillin for now but when I’m back back it’s go time.

I got a lot of ideas but one must have a plan so we move properly.

Here’s a few things I learned in while I was in Calgary.

1.Everyone is busy but people will make time if they want to and can. Won’t be able to see everyone but truely appreciate one on one and group hangs even if it’s just 30 minutes each moment was bless.

2. Crab in a bucket mentally and not seeing big pictures and what really needs to be done.

3. That’s not ur friend sis 🤣🤣🤣

4. Having friends from 20 years ago and not running outta things to talk about is truely a blessing.

5. Family and Day 1s over everyone and thing

6. People that move funny are usually up to funny business so distances yourself.

7. As long as people have this I’m better then whoever mentally or someone is “outside” , they have a mic and a beat…my popcorn bag will never be empty lol

8. My beaver tail days might be over I’m not enjoying them as much anymore

9. I still need to try Bussin

10. Calgary is home to a lot of random useless art

There was more I learned but over all it was a good trip n of course I’ll be back!

Welcome to #MeMonday where yall can get to know me better. I really wanted to do a video for YALL but I edited the one I filmed and wasn’t feeling it also left out mad detail.So here we are back to regular blogging.

1. What inspired you to start making music, and how has your sound evolved over time?

A lot of people. I’ve always loved music my mom is a singer and I grew up around a lot of different genes from pop to dancehall so all that made me want to get into it. Over time I think I’ve just grown lyrical. Definitely a lot has happened es since I was 13 rapping about my shoes and style to now I get a little more personal.

2. How does your Caribbean heritage influence your music and creative process?

Very much from my delivery on certain tracks to some of the loops or samples I choose when making beats it’s very much put into to my whole process at different stages

3. What’s one song you’ve released that feels the most personal to you, and why?

They are all pretty personal I think my newest stuff that’s not out yet is pretty personal, probably the most personal actually so I’m excited for folks to hear it. But based on what’s out probably real friends.

4.What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you outside of music?

I love being alone lol I love working with people and being around them too but I feel like I’m most creative n just calm when I’m alone

5 .How do you balance the different sides of Lowkita—rapper, singer, DJ, and creative?

Balance???!!! I’m still tryna figure that out if anyone wants to pay that notion subscription for a year for me I’ll love you forever cause maybe I won’t burn out again lol
