You have a bizarre power, every morning you see an episode title for your day, such as “The One” when you met your true love and “Life Moves On” when your dog passed away. You just woke up to a loud noise downstairs and you are greeted with today’s episode title, “Very Special Episode”.

It's my birthday. My family made elaborate plans to celebrate, but everything will go wrong in a comically absurd series of events -that balloon popping downstairs was the beginning -before all my loved ones pull together a haphazard but heartfelt celebration on a much smaller scale.

I go back into my room and lock the door. I ain't dealing with this today.

does anyone else have the tendency to get into situations where they have no idea what's happening but just have to roll with it? it happens to me a lot

So I watched Prospect last night because Pedro Pascal, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a movie I just really, genuinely LIKED. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that I would choose to watch again, joining the list to make it a grand total of five films.

Featuring:

An original concept that did not feel the need to overexplain itself

An original concept that wasn't too full of itself to realize it shouldn't underexplain, either

A small cast, so I didn't have to spend the entire time going, "Who was that again?"

Pedro Pascal's patented Grudgingly Adoptive Dad™

A female character who was smart, capable, and not objectified

No goofy comic relief making everything awkward and/or ruining the moment for self-awareness points

A redemption arc that makes sense and doesn't justify the character's past, so I can like them without feeling like a bad person

A character-driven plot that didn't fall into the trap of introspective angst

The soundtrack

Engaging movie overall; not once did my ADHD brain want to check how much time was left so I honestly don't know how long it is

we all (rightly) praise Pedro Pascal for his acting abilities, and I think one of the biggest indicators of his talent is the fact that... guys, he's starring opposite a PUPPET, and we all forget that because his acting is so on point. y'all I am blown away.
