Pregnant Reader is absolutely literally worshiped by Titus Danforth. The woman is his living breathing goddess; his own personal Persephone. She doesn’t lift a finger or feel an ounce of discomfort for a damn thing.
She’s provided fresh fruits and high vitamin smoothies nothing but the best nutrition for his heir.
She’s provided her own personal maid to be at her bedside waiting every morning with a cup of decaf hot tea and a copy of her favorite magazine or newspaper.
She is given a Michelin starred personal chef to prepare whatever she’s craving. She wants homemade vanilla ice cream with fresh peaches he’s on it. She craves the fluffiest egg salad sandwich at three am he’s prepping the eggs.
Reader has the finest silk gowns perfect for accommodating her expanding belly. The fine fabric is soft and light on her skin.
Titus pays a masseuse to give her foot massages and makes sure she can get pedicures and waxes to maintain the usual sense of self care she maintains prior to pregnancy.
She leisurely floats in the heated pool at Titus’ chunk of the estate because the floating is relaxing on her aching body.
She strolls around the estate with her anxious maid close behind because light exercise is good for her and the baby but Titus will lose it if she overextended herself
Titus hires the best doctors to make house calls at all hours of the day and night
Reader is doted on by her husband. He will stop meetings if she enters the room because she is feeling hormonal and weepy
He’s been known to take important council meetings in the comfort of one of the living areas forcing everyone to stand aside while he holds his needy wife in his arms on the sofa.
He throws a massive ball to celebrate the announcement of his impending heir. Who needs a baby shower when you can force other elite families to show up and show some appreciation and respect for the Danforth heir. The Danforths are an old and respected family after all and another member of the family is a reason to celebrate.
When she gets cabin fever Titus will relent and take her out for a day at the Danforth Country club, eating brunch and sitting by trying to pretend he’s not bored out of his mind while she gossips with other affluent council wives. He does maybe find a bit of smug amusement in how the staff fawns over a pregnant Mrs. Danforth.
Titus finds peace in the quiet moments of her pregnancy: resting a hand on her belly at night while they sleep, resting his head against the baby bump when he’s exhausted and wants to be close to his heir, feeling the gentle flutter of movement of his heir within her womb and the strong kicks.
Titus who takes his wife to whatever high dollar boutique she wants to buy little baby socks and overpriced wooden blocks.
Titus who has his staff set up the expensive crib and changing table and makes them set up baby seats in each of Titus’s vehicles.
Titus who shocks reader by baby proofing the Danforth estate it’s a great ordeal placing daggers and other sharp items out of infant reach.
Titus who is maybe just the slightest bit delighted to be a father….if anyone asks though he’s just relieved that he has an heir though….no he didn’t get weepy when he first felt his baby kick, shut up.
