I’m a social vampire u gotta invite me into ur conversation or I cannot enter
i have never in my entire life seen the dead body of a white person on the news. ever. not even once. but every time a black or brown person dies we are gratuitously shown images of their lifeless bodies, videos of them dying, their families crying over their bodies to the point where i’m unaffected by these images anymore. afford black and brown bodies the same respect you give white ones and stop sharing these videos and images that achieve nothing but the normalisation of black and brown suffering.
I was in a car accident on Sunday, and have been fighting with insurance companies since. I had several serious preexisting conditions, which were aggravated by the recent accident. All of the progress I made in pain management and physical therapy is destroyed.
Handling that is hard enough, and overwhelming. My older sister took this time to tell me that “ignoring” her is immature and pathetic--without even considering that maybe I’m just busy. She has done a lot of hurtful things recently, including comparing me to abusers and saying that I am worse than them.
It’s more than I can handle right now. My car is not exactly safe to drive, and my pain makes it hard for me to socialize, so I’m just hiding out in my apartment. But that doesn’t leave a lot for me to do except binge Netflix and sleep. In theory, I love it, but in practice I just get bored and start overthinking.
OMG YOURE STRAIGHT WE HAVE TO PLAY FOOTBALL AND GO HUNTING SOMETIME
OH I HAVE A COUSIN WHO’S STRAIGHT I SHOULD INTRODUCE YOU
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT IM NOT A HETEROPHOBE ONE OF MY FRIENDS IS STRAIGHT
OMG I’VE ALWAYS WANTED A STRAIGHT BEST FRIEND!
HOW DO STRAIGHT PEOPLE HAVE SEX
HOW DID YOU KNOW YOU WERE STRAIGHT?
YOU DON’T LOOK STRAIGHT THOUGH?
I’M OKAY WITH STRAIGHT PEOPLE AS LONG AS THEY DON’T HIT ON ME LOL
ARE YOU SURE YOU AREN’T EVEN A LITTLE BIT GAY?
DID YOU HAVE A BAD RELATIONSHIP WHEN YOU WERE GAY?
HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR STRAIGHT IF YOU’VE NEVER TRIED BEING WITH SOMEONE OF THE SAME GENDER
ITS OK THAT YOU ARE STRAIGHT BUT YOU SHOULDNT TALK ABOUT THESE THINGS AROUND CHILDREN
WHAT DID YOUR PARENTS SAY WHEN YOU TOLD THEM YOU WERE STRAIGHT
At some point you gotta decide for yourself who you gonna be. Can’t let nobody make that decision for you.

It's International Women's Day, so I wanted to talk about something that we deal with on a daily basis. It has been a difficult week for a number of reasons. We had to put our family dog Blossom down after she's been with us for 13 years; I had to pay to replace one of my tires because I ran over debris in the road during a thunderstorm; work has been exceptionally challenging; I had multiple panic attacks. All of these, in a way other people would not understand, remind me that I am a survivor of sexual violence. Rape is something we hear about often, but we don't talk about the "after". We don't talk about how it affects every aspect of our lives after. It has been five years. I see a therapist every week, and it still affects me every day. When situations are out of my control, I panic because I was out of control that night. I have to drive my own car anywhere, because I let him drive that night. I struggle to trust people, because he was someone I trusted. Rape isn't just the event itself. It is the emotional and psychological damage that happens after. It isn't something people discuss and it's viewed as shameful to do so. I want to send love out to the survivors of sexual violence or any kind of violence, especially the women today. Awareness can happen, and I hope that you have someone you can tell your story to and feel comfortable doing so. I am here for you if you need it and I will do what I can for you, even if it is just listening. Survivors, you are strong and brave and deserving. ❤️❤️

CW: discussion of mental health (specifically PTSD and C-PTSD), child abuse, POW camps, concentration camps, prostitution, domestic violence, sexual violence. I wanted to take time to talk about C-PTSD, which I was diagnosed with two years ago. PTSD is a common thread in any conversation about trauma. It is often associated with soldiers or a single traumatic event. Complex-PTSD (C-PTSD) is the result of chronic trauma that continues or repeats for months or years at a time. People who suffer from C-PTSD can experience the formal PTSD symptoms, but often report additional symptoms, such as changes in their self-perception and the way they adapt to stressful situations. Types of trauma generally associated with Complex-PTSD: During long-term traumas the victim is generally held in a state of captivity, physically or emotionally. In theses situations, the victim is under the control of the perpetrator and unable to get away from danger. Examples include concentration camps, prisoner of war camps, prostitution brothels, long-term domestic violence, long-term childhood physical or sexual abuse. Additional symptoms of C-PTSD include: - Emotional Regulation: May include persistent sadness, suicidal thoughts, explosive anger, or inhibited anger. - Consciousness: Includes forgetting traumatic events, reliving traumatic events, or having episodes in which one feels detached from one's mental processes or body (dissociation). - Self-Perception: May include helplessness, shame, guilt, stigma, and a sense of being completely different from other beings. - Distorted Perceptions of the Perpetrator: Examples include attributing total power to the perpetrator, becoming preoccupied with the relationship to the perpetrator, or preoccupied with revenge. - Relations with Others: Examples include isolation, distrust, or a repeated search for a rescuer. - One's System of Meanings: May include a loss of sustaining faith or a sense of hopelessness and despair. #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #CPTSD #PTSD
Are people actually saying that Emma Watson isn't a feminist or a hypocrite because she posed in a censored "topless" shoot? Do people, like, not understand the concept of feminism and the whole "giving women the opportunity to make their own choices" or do they think that feminists are anti-sex & anti-sexuality?
Model Ebonee Davis Skewers Racism In Fashion Industry In Brilliant TED Talk
Every black model faces this during her career. And this is terrible. Our society needs to change. Our beauty industry needs to change. We need diversity and give opportunities to models of color, because we live in multicultural world and everybody should be represented in the Media to be inspired by their success, to be able to relate to them. The way models of color are treated is just unacceptable.
I am struggling tonight. It has been a particularly difficult week for a variety of reasons, and it all came to head today.
My family’s dog, Blossom, has been sick since around Christmas and has continued to get worse. We finally made the decision to put her down. We scheduled the appointment for tomorrow at 4pm.
This dog has been a part of my family for almost thirteen years. We picked her out when she was eight weeks old. She has been my siblings’ best friend, their favorite playmate and cuddler. They spoiled her rotten and bought her presents every Christmas. Even as teenagers (ages 13, 15, 16, and 19, plus the twins who are 21) still use her as a pillow on a regular basis. No dog has ever been more loved or more important.
Our family is very dysfunctional: both my mom and step dad were abusive; my step dad was an alcoholic and drug addict, he has been in jail for several years now and will be released in May; my mom was severely mentally ill, has been in and out of jail and psychiatric hospitals. They did not parent. Instead, my older sister and I raised the six younger kids (eight of us in all). When we couldn’t be there for them, they went to the dog and she was their support.
I have come to accept that we have to let Blossom go. She is suffering, and it’s cruel to keep her alive any longer. But I am heartbroken for my siblings that they will have to experience this. Most of them don’t even remember life without Blossom.
In the last two months, seven trans women have been murdered, 7! This is unreal. The trans community need our support and protection. They need our voice. Where is your outrage? Where is your compassion? The silence is deafening. Whenever we can, we *need* to fight like hell for the trans people that are still with us. We need to put pressure on cities and law enforcement to properly investigate these hate crimes. We also need to do more in terms of creating a culture of safety and acceptance for our vulnerable trans family. #SayHerName #MeshaCaldwell, 41, shot multiple times on a road in Mississippi, January 4th. #JamieLeeWoundedArrow, 28, found dead in her Sioux Fall, South Dakota apartment on January 6th. #JoJoStriker, 23, found dead in a garage in Toledo, Ohio on February 8th. As a society, our decision to heap shame and contempt on those who struggle and fail in a system designed to keep them locked up and locked out says far more about ourselves than it does about them. #blacklivesmatter #blackmindsmatter #indigenouslivesmatter #indigenousmindsmatter #brownlivesmatter #brownmindsmatter #theNewJimCrow #freeAmerica #endmassincarceration
Please take time to self-care today. Do whatever makes you feel better, even a small amount of relief is progress.
Moisturize your skin. Take a long bath. Read that book you’ve been putting off. Watch some Netflix. Cuddle a pet or loved one.
Self-care is essential. You are worth it. You deserve it.
Love. Support.
