“The reason why choir concert attendance is so high is because all of the choir kids’ friends come to see them. Band concerts are poorly attended because all of their friends are sitting next to them, performing too.”
IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THIS AND YOU’RE ANY MUSIC CLASS, WATCH IT I HAVEN’T LAUGHED SO HARD IN MONTHS. IF YOU’RE IN BAND, ORCHESTRA OR CHOIR WATCH THIS MASTERPIECE.
Band Kids are ATHLETES
Isn’t it hilarious
that band kids are always assumed to be nonathletic,
but in real life
if you take a hard-core marching band/drum corp kid
I will GUARANTEE you they can do things your normal high school athlete can’t.
We will not calm down
Maybe the band room wasn’t the home I found comfort in. Maybe these four white walls didn’t see as much as I thought they did. When I think of a home, I usually think of a place with walls and a foundation. A place that can shelter me from the rain and block the wind. After being miles away from my home town, I realized that those four white walls weren’t truly my home. It is my instrument. If I were to ever leave my instrument, I wouldn’t be able to stop my tears from falling. If I ever gave up on my instrument, my instrument would weep. The true home I made for myself was founded in my instrument. Not only did it see all the good and bad things, but felt them as I played. My instrument sung my feelings, my struggles, my frustration. It felt my self doubt, it felt my accomplishments, it felt my tears, and it felt my smiles. It was there from the beginning and it will be there til the end even as I move from building to building. It is my comfort. It is my home.

music kid reminders
•you don’t need an “official” title to be important to your band •you don’t need to be section leader to be important to your band • you don’t need to play first part to be important to your ensemble •how long you have been playing isn’t a reflection of who you are •even if you aren’t an official leader, you still deserve respect from others-even if they think they’re a better player than you •musical ability means nothing with a bad attitude •it’s okay if you don’t make it into “that big thing” you auditioned for

Hey followers, I recently got a solo in my marching show this year. If you like me to I'll post an audio/video if it. I'm sort excited for it !
Any advice for a trumpet just going into marching band?
1. Drink water. Make sure that you stay hydrated, it's a really popular answer but it's also really important. 2. Practice your music. Also probably popular, but you can't have a marching show without knowing your music. And in order to be the best band you can be, everyone has to work on their music and memorize it. (My school does tests to see if you know the music and grades you )3. Make friends. Band camp is so much more fun if you he friends to enjoy it with. It gives you he opportunity to make friends with the same interests as you, and to maybe help you develop new interests as well. 4. Get out into the sun. Pokemon Go is out, can't be that hard now. But seriously, just go outside and do something simple. Toss a ball, lay in a hammock or play in the pool, anything that gets you outside for a couple hours but doesn't wear you out, it will get you used to the heat. 5. Rest up and get plenty of sleep. You don't want to be worn out the first day of band, you'll never catch up on sleep. My band camp is 9 days long, 5 8-5 and 4 9-9 days. On the 8-5 days, I'll have to go to work 6-10. So if you have a busy schedule you have to make sure you know you can handle it 6. Don't be afraid to ask for help!! Everyone has been new to marching band once, even the most experienced and best formed marchers. They all had to learn and had questions to ask. Everyone will be very willing to help you, as long as you take their advice and do our best to improve for the band. 7. Be disciplined. Please. This is what I have the most trouble with out of my section. Standing at set it hard, but it shows you want to make the band as solid as you can. Anon, as long as you are asking questions and wanting to improve, I'm fairly certain you will do just find your first year marching, and will lead to great things from you in the future. :)
Thank you band-of-a-lifetime!
is this what the kids are listening to these days?
Took me a while to identify what in the world the other brass was till I realized it wasn’t.
