Of Stitches and Stories
I love to "knit and."
Most of us do, I think. Knit and listen to a podcast. Knit and watch TV. Knit and continue with an audiobook. Knit and drink tea.
Especially on Instagram (and I am guilty of this), you'll often see knits paired with books. It's aesthetically lovely, and books fit with knitting in some categorization in our heads, but realistically it's very hard to knit and read, unless you have an audiobook going, and that's not particularly aesthetically pleasing.
When I think of a perfect night relaxing it's me on a couch with a cup of tea, a fire raging in the fireplace, a good book, and some knitting, but, while that may seem relaxing in my imagination, it would be a logistic nightmare. How am I supposed to drink tea, read, and knit?
TV knitting is fine if it's not too complicated a project, and I'm actually a big fan of TV knitting. This pouf, for instance, was knit during a series of documentary screenings I had for a class about World War I.
Below are some of my favorite audio books

Wow, I haven't really spent a lot of time on Insta recently, and being back on here and scrolling through everyone's recent posts has me so excited for fall. I'm giving herringbone stitch a try for the first time, and I love how it's coming out. Yarn and pattern from @purlsoho

Is there a more beautiful place to knit? 😍my second time knitting this pattern by @jostorieknits (although this time I ran out of yarn and had to make some last minute alterations 😬🙈)(at Puerto Natales, Chile)
