this was so hard because I couldn’t really think of a favorite quote? I just really like ‘to define is to limit’ but also weirdly fixated on ‘I’m nobody, who are you?’ right now in the sense of lately I’ve been thinking (again) a lot about the inadequacy of language, perception and how no one can truly know you as you know yourself but also how (at least to me) it feels like even the sense of how YOU know yourself is entirely abstract and not categorizable into something tangible or outwardly expressible without getting lost in translation. soooo this is what came to mind!! it makes me feel insane!!! a bit like if I think about it too much I stop feeling like a real person and I tried to convey that lol

I love it!!!

I think it's like everything in the end, dwelling on anything, one's purpose or sense of self included, can only provide a sort of existential dread that no one has a purpose to begin with.

But you aren't alone, I feel insane quite a lot myself, I don't think I've ever liked a person who hasn't on occasion but It's human nature.Our brains are powerful but when they can't make heads and tails of something they destroy themselves trying to make rational observations about irrational concepts.

I’ve been!! thinking about this!! "brains are powerful but when they can't make heads and tails of something they destroy themselves trying to make rational observations about irrational concepts" YES BRAIN YAPS this kind of reminds me of how there’s ideas in science about the way the brain functions and consequential limits to understanding and perception in general too! like yes the brain is in charge of gathering all this information and filtering and making predictions from it used to back up it’s belief system but also like Reality is so much!!

and lowk sometimes feels like we’re working with a compressed version of it in our head, a kind of model of reality that’s constantly being updated to adjust to the version of reality we perceive and shielding us from surprise etc etc like idk I think the thought of it drives me a little insane because there are things we constantly go in circles about essentially building off our own line of thinking and are there some things that we just fundamentally can not understand as they really are aside from the concept we derived of it from what WE perceive?

this is a question I just love to ask people cause it’s so interesting to me but if your soul was a room/place/object of some kind what would it be? (you can be rambly and detailed with it if you want since it’s literally what do you think your perception of you as a whole physical tangible concept is lol it’s fun that way)

hrrmmmmm see I really struggle to perceive myself which is why i'm always so insistent that others do it for me, i'm very self aware a lot of the time but i lack a sense of purpose, in the long and short I feel like i don't really have a personality i just reflect what everyone needs and wants me to be because I'm lwky terrified of being disliked (which I'm aware is completely irrational, I do not like every person, most people I have no opinion of good or bad, so how can I expect them to think of me)

this makes it sound logically like I'm going to say mirror or makeup or something

but i choose record player, I think they are the heart of a home, they can inspire, connect and I grew up with one constantly whirring in the background of my life playing music that I'd grow to appreciate, it inspired me to learn instruments it reminds me so much of being myself without restraint.

heheh urmmmm I've been really into Showbiz (the entire album) by muse lately but thats not too out the ordinary for me I just think there's some really interesting musical choices and also i'm just a sucker for cool piano and bass parts so what more can I say!!

but maybe a slightly different vein I'm back on War of the Worlds (the 1978 version) if you want slightly spacey rock sprinkled with some more soft ballady moments, it's obviously inspired by the book by H.G.Wells but my parents played it a lot for me so It's a staple My childhood favs were

-The Eve of war

-Horsell common and the heatray

-Forever Autumn (<3)

-Thunder Child (went platinum in my house)

-The Spirit of man

but obviously the album tells the full story it's kind of talking mixed with some really gorgeous instrumental pieces and some songs with vocals such as the last three on my list.....
