I got a job at a gas station across from a casino and a guy keeps coming in to buy whole cartons of cigarettes and talks in the third person calling himself "snake eyes pete" and every time I tell him his total hes like "tell ya what if old Pete rolls a snake eyes why dont you give it to him for free?" and he rolls the same set of loaded dice on the counter and it does not matter how many times he rolls snake eyes I will not give him the cartons for free he gets so mad

I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.

It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.

thinking about teen wolf and sexual violence in the first three seasons I might actually throw up . . . scott being dressed as little red riding hood is his first appearance and the night of his turning which completely changes and steals his body and mind . . . the turning which like lydia's is framed as an assault and then with lydia in s2 peter so thoroughly invades every corner of her life while trying to create life from her body and no one notices!! or at least, no one really cares!! they don't have the time to care!! vs s3 nogitsune arc being kicked off with stiles alone in bed and by the end of it he's lost his literal, actual body . . . he's stuck in a copy of it which was quite literally created by his abuser. your body gets stolen or your body gets changed and it means the same thing, both ways

Adding to this by saying the fact that their bodies were taken advantage of supernaturally means that even if they were to tell someone (other than the pack), no one would believe them. They’re forced to keep the changes and violations to their bodies secret from (most) adults, have to go to school and act like everything is normal and that nothing bad happened because no one would believe them.

Also adding on that when Melissa saw Scott as a werewolf for the first time she didn’t speak to him or look at him for a while. Scott not only had to deal with the shame of being forced to become something he’s not after one attack that changed his entire life and outlook on life, he also had to deal with the fear and shame his mother had for him and the isolation many victims of S/A deal with.

Side note; Dereks pack in season 2. They all wanted the bite but as Scott (someone who got bitten in a violent and manipulating way) says, they don’t understand what they’re getting into. They’re kids who can’t legally consent to anything even if they (think they) want it. And lo and behold it does not work out for them because at the end of the day they were taken advantage of, violated, and threatened like any other victims.

i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af

i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
