So a few days ago, I received an ask that definitely triggered some emotions. I debated answering it or not, but overall, I decided to delete it and call it a day. However, I do wanna speak just a bit on anon culture and how people address and talk to authors on this app.
Before I start, this is in no way, shape, or form intended as hate toward that anon. They could simply be a blunt kind of person and meant no harm. Either way, I've noticed this pattern on other blogs, with some anons giving backhanded critiques and passive aggressive reviews.
First of all, I'd like to gently remind everyone that the authors on this app are doing this entirely for FREE. No one is getting paid for the amount of hours and the emotions they pour into a fic that you get read in just a few minutes. I understand that everyone wants to see themselves represented in x reader fics, but if you're not finding any fics that suit your personality from a specific author, there are plenty of options to get those fics aside from telling the author that the writing they work hard on is "cringe" or that you don't like their stuff by giving them a rating they didn't ask for. You can always send in a request with that type of character as the description! Authors would be more than happy to receive it. You can also just scroll through the tag you're looking for until you find an author who does deliver what you want. There are ways to get what you're looking for without being rude (unintentionally or otherwise) to authors who get nothing but occasional nice comments in return for their work. That's actually a great way to drive the author away from writing at all, depending on their personality type.
Secondly, I'm by no means saying that no one can give me constructive criticism! I adore getting any kind of feedback on my writing. That's why I made my feedback form! What I don't love, though, are backhanded "compliments" that are really just a way to tear apart my writing without making the sender feel bad about themselves. It's so incredibly easy to be kind, guys. Just word things more gently, or take a moment and think about how what you're saying might sound to someone else.
Lastly, to assume anything based on how or what an author writes is truly wild to me. Please, do not go into an author's inbox telling them that they need to work on their self-esteem just because they write a shy reader. You're free to think what you think, but don't make assumptions about someone and throw it at them in their inbox. It's very off-putting, and it's not something someone would do in real life.
Just keep in mind that authors are real humans with real emotions, and just because we choose to spend what little free time we have writing silly little fics and posting them for others to read, doesn't mean that you can treat us any differently than you'd treat someone you know in real life.
Once again, this is not meant as hate in any way! I'm just saying to please be mindful about how you speak to others! We're all living life for the first time, alright? Nothing is ever that deep, especially not made-up stories about fictional characters and some entity that will never truly exist in any world, real or fake (Y/N as an entity).

Here's the "Link".
Gentle reminder that very little fandom labor is automated, because I think people forget that a lot.
That blog with a tagging system you love? A person curates those tags by hand.
That rec blog with a great organization scheme and pretty graphics? Someone designed and implemented that organization scheme and made those graphics.
That network that posts a cool variety of stuff? People track down all that variety and queue it by hand, and other people made all the individual pieces.
That post with umpteen links to helpful resources, and information about them? Someone gathered those links, researched the sources, wrote up the information about them.
That graphic about fandom statistics? Someone compiled those statistics, analyzed them, organized them, figured out a useful way to convey the information to others, and made the post.
That event that you think looks neat? Someone wrote the rules, created the blogs and Discords, designed the graphics, did their best to promo the event so it'd succeed.
None of this was done automatically. None of it just appears whole out of the internet ether.
I think everyone realizes that fic writing and fanart creation are work, and at least some folks have got it through their heads that gif creation and graphics and moodboards take effort, and meta is usually respected for the effort that goes into it, at least as far as I've seen, but I feel like a lot of people don't really get how much labor goes into curation, too.
If people are creating resources, curating content, organizing the creations of others, gathering information, and doing other fandom activities that aren't necessarily the direct action of creation, they're doing a lot of fandom labor, and it's often largely unrecognized.
Celebrate fan work!
To folks doing this kind of labor: I see you, and I thank you. You are the backbones of our fandoms and I love you.
The marketing team for the Avengers have chosen different fonts for all of us. This is mine:
Cap's looks like this:
And Legolas:
Now, if you're wondering why Arrow Guy's is lowercase and not all caps like the others, it's because when you write his name in that font in caps, it looks like this.
This uplifted my moooddd!!!! 😸😸

EP093: Navel Maneuvers
“Any day now, Ash.”
Ash glared at Misty before sticking out his tongue at her and looking back at the checkerboard between them. “I’m strategizing,” he huffed.
Misty snorted. “I’ve got you beat no matter what you do, so you might as well stop stalling so I can finally end it,” she told him flippantly, that infuriating smirk slowly growing across her face, but Ash was stubborn, and there was no way he was going to go down without a fight.
Scanning over the board once more, he finally reached over and put his fingers on one of his black pieces. Misty’s smirk grew even wider, so he yanked his hand away like it was on fire.
“Ash, just go,” Misty groaned. “You’re trapped, just accept it.”
“Never!” he growled back, and turned to Pikachu with a pout. “What am I missing, buddy?”
“You’re missing your brain, that’s what,” Misty answered, but Ash ignored her.
Unfortunately, Pikachu just shrugged, frowning apologetically. Apparently he had to win his on his own.
“Okay,” he mused, resting his chin on his hand as he inspected the board. “If I move that one, she can jump me. And if I move that one, she can jump that one and the one next to it… Buuut…” he trailed off, the lightbulb finally turning on as he noticed a possible solution, “if I go there…Ha! Got it!”
“About time.”
With a flourish, Ash moved his piece to his chosen square and shot Misty a cocky grin, crossing his arms in satisfaction.
Misty blinked at him, an eyebrow raising in a silent question if he was satisfied with his choice.
“Your move,” he told her simply as an answer.
Misty shrugged, and then to Ash’s horror, picked up one of her red, kinged pieces and proceeded to hop over every single piece he had left on the board in one single turn.
He gaped down at the board as Misty calmly gathered up his pieces and dumped them unceremoniously back into the box. Then, without a word, she stood up, patted his head condescendingly, and glided towards the doorway, pausing only as she got to the door to turn around and give him a wink. “Better luck next time, Ash,” she sang, and disappeared around the corner.
Ash watched her go, weirdly enamored for just a moment before coming back to his senses and shaking his head.
He turned to Pikachu and pointed to the board. “Guess we need more practice, huh?” he asked him, and started putting the pieces back into place.
He’d beat her next time for sure.
Hi tony! Do you have resources for learning physics? Both like. Normal physics and also quantum physics.
Even more specifically cause i want to know Everything but i have a test on A Thing tomorrow how does one do free body problems
ohooo... fun. First question has a lot to it and a lot of answers. My first suggestion is always Dreams of a Final Theory by Steven Weinberg- a bit outdated by modern standards, but covers all the "basics" of physics, or as basic as you can get. That one's a bit dense, though. I'd also suggest NOVA by PBS, it's a docuseries chronicling the evolution of our scientific and mathematical understanding of our world going all the way back to Galileo being right (and what he was wrong about). Mostly narrated by Neil DeDgrasse Tyson. That one is more astrophysics than quantum physics, though. If you're looking for beginner quantum physics research specifically, try a wikipedia deep dive: grab a notebook, find an article or concept that interests you, find a term you don't know within the article, visit the page, find another term there, visit the next, and keep track of what you've gone through as you go. Omce you reach a point where you fully grasp a concept, work backwards to the original article, and then pick a new one. Lots of fun. Also, check out the abstracts and papers that Wikipedia cites in their articles! They're all cited and compiled at the bottom- should be a separate section for sources.
And for free body diagram force analysis, it's basically just trig based on the angle relative to the ground (or whatever bs they give you). Focus on sin and cosin in relation to theta. Let me know if you want more on that one, this post is just getting kind of rambly.
Peter: I have a question-
Bucky: die.
Peter: Oh! That answers my question, thank you!
Bucky: ....was he going to ask me if he should die or not.
Tony: Based on past experiences, very likely.
Bucky, panicking: PETER! COME BACK-
Hey.
Yeah you- the person reading this. Stop scrolling for a second.
You’re going to be okay. You have to believe that. It might take a long time and who knows how much work, but you’re going to be okay.
You’re going to be okay.
You’re going to be okay.
My original submission for the zine before I realised it doesn't match the story of my friend, with whom I was making this in collaboration with, lol. I ended up making something up hours before the final zine submission ended, and I like that one a lot too. Can't wait for you all to see it, but until then, enjoy this piece of work! (I really liked making the bg and rendering this)

He asks her to dance.
They’ve danced before; something traditional and folksy at Maiden’s Peak, but nothing like this.
Nothing slow and intimate and, dare she say, romantic, like she always daydreamed about doing with him since she was a little girl, watching him across the room at banquets and Christmas parties, the music soft and the lights low and twinkling.
But now…
Her hand is cupped with his, his other hand resting delicately at her waist and her hand on his shoulder. They’re facing each other, eye to eye, swaying to the music, and she wonders if he can tell how brightly she’s blushing.
He’s not a fantastic dancer, which is the least surprising thing part of all of this, but he’s trying, and that is more than enough to make her forgive a few stepped-on toes. As far as she’s concerned, he’s the best dancer there.
“You look really nice tonight,” he says quietly, finally breaking the silence. Misty smiles.
“So do you,” she tells him honestly. “I didn’t think you even owned a suit.”
“Oh, I don’t,” he chuckles. “Someone gave me this to wear tonight. Apparently I can’t be trusted to dress myself.”
Misty giggles, biting back the ridiculous, lovesick smile fighting to reveal itself, as Ash flashes her a goofy grin.
They relax a little as the song plays on, Ash even loosening up enough to lead her into a twirl that ends with them closer together than where they started. Misty waits for him to back up a bit again, but he never does, so she enjoys the rare closeness while she has it.
“Thank you, by the way,” Ash whispers. His breath against her ear giving her a chill.
“For what?” she asks, hating that she can hear the tremble in her voice.
“For, you know, coming to this.”
Misty raises an eyebrow. “Of course I came,” she tells him with a scoff. “Why wouldn’t I come?”
Ash raises an eyebrow back at her. “Because you’re busy? And you had to come all the way to Alola?”
“Oh no, a long weekend in a tropical paradise with my best friend,” she teases, rolling her eyes. “How will I justify taking off work for something like that?”
Ash laughs loudly, somehow leaning even closer to rest his forehead against hers. “Okay, fair,” he says, his eyes closed and his smile sharp before softening into something more modest. “It just seems like a long way to travel for something kinda silly.”
“It’s not silly.” She frowns. “Five years of being a regional Champion is a big deal, Ash.”
“I know, I know,” he says, standing back up straight and waving her off. He meets her gaze again and cringes. “But the big party? It just seems like a bit… Much.”
“It’s Alola, Ash. You guys are always partying and celebrating something. It’s one of the reasons I love visiting.”
He can’t argue with that, so he shrugs sheepishly and drops it for now, twirling her again to change the subject.
They slow dance together until the end of the song, electric tingles shooting up her spine every time she feels one of Ash’s fingers move against her.
The songs ends, and maybe she’s imagining it, but it feels like Ash hesitates before finally pulling away. It’s only when a man in a League lanyard and ID card appears at his side and taps his shoulder, motioning for him to follow, that Ash sighs and steps back from her arms.
“Thank you for the dance, Mist,” he says, smiling handsomely, his brown eyes soft. And before she can stop him, he takes her hand, bows chivalrously, and kisses just above her knuckles.
He winks, and then he’s off, disappearing into the crowd. Back to reality.
All she can do is watch him go, stunned into silence.
