Why is it white folks get away with a lot of stuff while our people, our KIDS get murdered for literally being Black?

How do cops always manage to disarm white criminals? Why do they shoot innocent Black people? Why do they only try to deescalate conflict when it comes to white people?

We will never get the answers to those and many other questions from police. But we know the reason and that is racism. We will never know the side of the story of the victims because police always make sure to silence our voices.

People will continue to justify the cop who shot Tyre, saying “He pointed a gun at the officer, what do you expect?”, “What was he doing out at 2AM anyway? That’s bad parenting bla bla.”, but ignore the fact that the surveillance video and witnesses confirmed that Tyre DID NOT point a gun at police!

We must keep demanding justice and saying #TyreKing’s name.

Always, always always discount the police (and the initial media) version of events. Police have repeatedly demonstrated they cannot be trusted to be truthful when they “accidentally” shoot unarmed Black people.

The only pertinent facts here are that Tyre King was a 13 year old child; he was Black and unarmed; the police shot him dead; Ohio is an open carry state; and the cop, Bryan Mason, who shot Tyre King dead has once shot another man - who called 911 for help - dead.

Almost anything else is irrelevant minutiae or spin.

This is the actual poster for a high school girls’ basketball team in Iowa.

You have to wonder who signed off on this. The incredibly offensive poster from Clarke High School’s woman’s basketball team is currently going viral. It includes a litany of offensive Native American cliches, enough that it’s hard to decide on which is the most foolish. None of the woman involved are reportedly Native American.

Steve Seid, the school district’s superintendent, apparently doesn’t have a problem with it. But the photographer behind the poster, Ben Shirk of Shirk Photography in Wilton, IA, wins for most ignorant comment.
