theres this guy on youtube who just gets stung by increasingly deadly/painful insects and the videos are like 5 minutes of him getting psyched up to sting himself and then 10 minutes of him lying on the ground shrieking in agony

Oh my god I love him. Ocelot Friend (Coyote Peterson) is the BEST

He once climbed a tree to get a coconut, reached for it, then joyfully shouted “I caught an iguana!  I’m putting it in my pocket!”

He then DOES SO and finishes collecting coconuts.  He named the iguana Wilson and, upon releasing him, did an EXCELLENT recreation of the “Wilson floats away” scene from Castaway.

He gets stung/bitten/injured intentionally to show what basic first aid can be done, and accidental injuries are also used as teachable moments.  As far as the extremely painful stings went, he was challenged to get stung by a bullet ant but decided to work his way up the insect pain index scale first so he had some idea of how bad it was going to be.  He also insisted on catching each insect first.  For the tarantula hawk, he caught it but also fell into a cactus while doing so, and then used that as a teaching moment of what to do when you fall into a fucking cactus.

His camera guys are the best, too.  They do much breaking of the fourth wall and make snarky comments periodically.  They provide much first aid for some reason.

Coyote is basically what you get if Steve Irwin and a golden retriever had a baby.

everyone talks about idols like, “i wanna have sex with them” or whatever but i just want to be their friend? i want to take care of them, cook for them, cuddle with them (platonically), i want them to be able to rant to me about their managers, about how (another member) deserves better, about how they want to meet (this other band), i want to make sure they’re healthy, i want to comfort them when they’re sad because they didn’t get a lot of lines.

I need to make myself perfectly clear: I Do Not pay attention to the activity notifications on my dashboard unless someone replies to or reblogs and adds to a post I’ve made. If you go on a liking/reblogging spree through my blog, there is an 80% chance I won’t even notice. The other 20% is me noticing, going “huh, cool, you go little dude” and then forgetting two minutes later.

what skincare culture should be: -strong encouragement to use sunscreen and stay away from tanning booths -encouraging little black and brown kids to love their skin color, giving love to people with skin conditions such as vitiligo/albinism/hyper-pigmentation/etc. -good smelling lotion for all what skincare culture is: -unless a women has totally clear poreless pale skin that glows like paintings like the virgin mary she is gross and unhygienic and doesn’t take care of herself -don’t want to be that girl? spend $1000 a year on expensive goo sold by glossier and lush and inject weird chemicals in your skin to get rid of freckles and moles and wrinkles even though you’re only like 25

all excellent but i would like to submit that skincare culture should also be: -destroying the idea that acne is something gross or shameful and spreading real information about how to soothe breakouts so they’re not as uncomfortable -discussion of the skin as your body’s first line of defense against a lot of disease so it needs to be kept healthy -acceptance of scars, stretchmarks, birthmarks, etc. and conditions like psoriasis and eczema as things that aren’t shameful -stopping the culture of “look ten years younger!” and acting like aging is something disgraceful
